I have a ca18det silvia, and a t3 off a rb20det. i have heard there is a guy on the net that sells adaptor plates for the manifold.
does anyone know what the web site address is, and if anyone has any ideas on a cheap way to mount the turbo on the manifold that would be great too.

i've had my ca18det manifold modified to fit a T3. all the guy did is weld a T3 flange to the cast manifold, not too hard for a good welder. a T3 flange should be dirt cheap but if you do it this way you may not be able to go back to a T25 easily. the T3 i have is laggy but a huge improvement over standard, good luck.

Just two more questions
1. where do you get t3 flange that can be welded to the manifold
2. did you make your own gaskets? as the have to be made of metal don't they??

What car is it going into? You have to watch clearance of things like engine mounts.

why did you buy that turbo??? You can buy turbos that will bolt straight onto that manifld??
Sound like you just made a whole lot more work for yourself..

Well it's sounds like a fairly easy job if you know someone that can weld good and cheap.............

good luck anyway..................

1. i got one from a local turbo builder, any turbo shop should be able to get one or even make one. its really just a gas cut piece of thick steel.
2. no. i got a T3 gasket and as the flange is welded on you still only need one. and they have to handle a lot of heat so metal would be good.

as racedriver said, check clearances before welding but it should fit fine.

the RB20 silvertop turbo is a good cheap upgrade for CA's, sure its a bit of work but you could even upgrade to a T3/4 later on.

if its a ceramic wheel B.B turbo don't run over about 14psi and check whether you need to change your oil lines to suit the B.B. core. let us know how it goes.

Not to mention a new air flow meter and reprogrammed ECU or fully programmable engine management with map sensor. My now dead CA18 used to hit the voltage limit of the stock AFM all the time, especially when ambient temp is cold.
