View Full Version : Sprinter People
hey people, im new in these forums so i dont know what kinda people r in here.
i was wondering if therse any sprinter people that could give me info on putting a 3SGTE into a sprinter. ive herad its been done, but ive also heard that there mounted on a angle in the celica so that wen u mount them north south u get oil circulation problems?
can any 1 help?
cheers
Hi,
You probably already know this, but have a look at www.4agze.com

yeah its been done but youll probably find its gonna cost more than its worth. probably requires similar effort to an SR20DET transplant which would be more desirable due to after market accessories but not everyone is keen on the bastardisation. the chassis of sprinters are not designed to handle power delivered by such engines and will invariably fail, best leave them with what they are designed for - a nice 4age. they are a handling car not a drag car anyway :)

Ahoy the Sprinter owner(s)
Yes the 3sgte conversion in a Sprinter does cause headaches with oil circulation from what i hear. More trouble than it is worth perhaps? A modded 4agze might be the answer for you?
I am at the moment in the process of building a turbo 4agze for my AE86. Should do better things than a 3sgte the way it is going.

I too was looking at the 3S route, But after much reasearch i came to the conclusion that its a large job which isnt quite worthe the money and wouldve gone a long way to ruining the 86's superb balance.
So im going 4AGZE to 4AGTE also.
Good choice.
Statts: thats quite a nice little biff i saw on your machine, I heard you did it on the next tree down from my tree mishap.
Rex
Yeah its not a bad one, most of the damage that looks major is actually just in the bumper.
Not worrying about it until it ges painted, which is after the new engine.
What did you think of the new wheels? I think they are an improvement over the Watanabes.

Statts: I'm the other Chris, with the red 86 that spat sparks that nite i gave it a right strapping.
My Biff happened on the cavan cul-de-sac corner with a superbly controlled overslide into tree drift. The damage was moderate but all fixed now.
However we uncovered some cancer, so during the summer when its the weather is better, 'Tis getting as respray and GZE combo.
The new wheels are bloody swish, definately worthwhile. What are they worth? still got the Watanabe's?
How available are Jap 86 wheels?
Next Slide Session, Drop moi a PM, we have many rainy days on the way.
Chris
Now I see. hows things man? Haven't seen you out in a while, yeah Cavan cul de sac is the spot for tree hunting :p
Sounds like your car will be quite nice come Summer time, can't wait to see it! GZE is the way to go for sure! none of this 20v GARB! :D
Yeah the wheels were a VERY lucky find, very cheap too, sit nicely on the car, the -2 offset sits them right out in the guards without any spacers needed at all. 86 wheels are hard to find, but if it makes it easier, anything from S13 will fit.
For sure, next drift meet I will let u know, plenty of good nights to come!
Cheers
Chris
