View Full Version : Installing Coil Overs Adjustable Shocks
Hi everyone,
Well my story here is, i got me a set of Tein Coil Adjustable Shocks for my car, but the bad news is...it didnt come with a pair of C Spanner (i beleive thats the case) so i cant adjust the height to what i want.
Would anyone know where i can purchase a pair of C Spanners (im in Sydney) or even IF possible allow me to borrow them for the weekend and i would return them once done.
Any help would be highly appreciated, Really keen in getting them on asap.
Thanks again,
Joe.
I noticed that a lot of places call them "Hook" spanners. I got mine (I'm in Perth, though) from Coventrys, from memory it was a Sidchrome job and I paid about $60 for it.
your right....there either called c spanner or hook spanners because they do look like hooks
did you pick them up for $60 for the pair or one?...
ive only seen c spanners on photos so im not sure about size i need
if i can find one in sydney i will take one shock with me for the size then i be set with teins installed :)
Thanks,
Joe.

I picked up a C spanner for adjustable coilovers from Toperformance in Victoria (03) 9873 1722 when I purchased coilover gear for a conversion.
You may want to try motorcycle shops (wreckers) because a lot of motorcycles use them to adjust spring preloads.

Sorry for the lateness in reply - I think it was $60, anyway, I only got one C-spanner. :)
Mac is right, my motorbike has an adjustable spring on the back.. but I bought my spanner for the old rally car's Pro-Flex..

Ooops, might be a bit late but.....
these spanners are available from bearing suppliers like SKF and CBC etc for about 20 bucks. They're used for tourquing up bearing rings on shafts and such.
An adjustable one can be found from most tool shops for less than forty. I bought mine (2"-4.75") a couple of weeks ago.

Wish I had've seen this earlier, I've got a couple of Tein C spanners that you'd be welcome to borrow.
Hey guys,
At the moment i have had no luck for some odd reason (also been a bit lazy)
went to a few motor bike wreckers stores but they were a bit to small for car coil overs. Theres a guy in Blacktown (Sydney) who had an Adjustable one but had none in stock for me to purchase. He should have them in next week hopefully.
mlangeveld: Thanks for the reply, I didnt realise bearing shops sold them!, theres a few near my place so ill check them out this weekend.
IMOA: if you dont mind mate?...if i dont find one this weekend that is. :)
Thanks for the Replys/Info.
Greatly appreciated,
Joe.

You could use a flat head screw driver and a mallet.......
Chuck the screw driver in the little dent bit, and hit it with the mallet. Does the same job :)
