Geez....big turnout!! Didnt expect to see so many cars.

Bit quiet but....from my place we can usually hear some of the local cars returning from a Goldie run along the main road, especially the three 'Ford Crew' blokes that rumbled through about an hour before you guys did this morning. :)

Didnt hear you guys at all!!!

A great day had by all, good to catch up with a few people I haven't seen in a while/have never seen/see all the time.

Thanks to the guys who let my ~65kg increase their fuel consumption.

jsrc - Nah, I sold the manual conversion for the Supra and have since blown the engine again... so I'm in fix-and-sell mode! Going to build me a project car... :)

Hahahaha...that bloke is a legend....I was talking to him at the Railway Pub one night and he is actually quite sane!!! :p

He reckons he was a succesful professional (lawyer or something....cant remember) and one day he just got jack of it and moved to Byron and spends all day riding his unicycle around.

Sometimes he carries a tennis raquet around and wears a pair of flippers while riding!! :D :D hehe...we have all kinds in Byron!! :p

Did he blow his tooter for ya??

NAliberty
10-02-02, 02:46 PM
Of course he blew his tooter for us! :) :)

BTW - did anyone get a pic of my car, i want an avatar, and thought it might be the go.... If your not sure it was the bergundy liberty.

Yea,

Thanks guys for organising it - had an enjoyable morning once again.

Great to see the turnout from the Sydney crew (and we think we're tired). You guys are still mad!

Angus, the photos are becomming very arty.

OVB, enjoyed watching you thread the commodore through the twisties.

Green laser - got a question for you, can you send me a PM.

Again, thanks all.

Great cruise, thanks to the organisers for, um, organising it. :) My Supra made it back in one piece and everything still works (well, apart from the aircon) so I'm calling it a success! Hell, even the French cars made it home without the use of a tow rope - you gotta be happy with that. ;)

OVB471
10-02-02, 03:51 PM
TWC yeah just wished i had better brakes in the misses car would have gone a bit quicker thru them (ovb loves cutting corners ) but i had to step on the brakes a bit as the old barge not the best handler and braker.

it was also good following the other commodores thru the S's and checking in the rear view mirror every corner to see ur car still there. Is that a factory colour on ur car????TWC

hope i slowed down enought going thru those loose surface areas not to throw any stones up ( i think i did anyway)

AND ALL I GOT TO SAY NEXT TIME WE HAVE A CRUISE WE WILL HAVE TO DO THAT CIRCUIT AGAIN THAT WAS AWESOME ESPECIALLY ON THE WAY DOWN THRU THE S's

What an awesome day! Thanks must go to Chip and Daz :) Those maps were also a great idea.

I must say, i left Esk at 9:00 pm last night- drove all the way to Yatala- then after the cruise finished drove back to Ipswich and then back to Esk:rolleyes: . Dont know how many kays i did but im **uck'n buggered now.

My fav part was cruising through those twisty bits with the other purrring subies in hot persuit:D It was awesome! I think everyone had a smile on their dial:) Hopefully we go there again on another cruise!

Don't know what happened at the end, but everyone just seemed to go in all directions instead of cruising together to Boonah.

All in all a great day, but i enjoyed the second half a lot more- where there were some really good driving roads.

Chip & Daz Awesome cruise and awesome Idea, and good on ya to everyone who dragged their sorry asses out of bed (or refrained from going to bed) to make this cruise

I can say from being in Chips car most of the morning, looking behind to see 30+ cars following was an awesome sight.

Angus, as always nice pics, ... anyone else have any to post?

Thanks to Chip once again for letting me shotgun on the cruise (well most of it), Daz for letting me go in the MX5FM mobile, Pornstar for offering me a lift back to Bris after the Capri's problems, and Norbie for actually getting me home :)

Oh yer, many thanks goto Red Bull for keeping me awake, and all the comical releif on the UHF :)

Hope to have another cruise soon

Was a great cruise. I was actualy quite surprised to see the turnout and everyone was well behaved ;)

Anyway thanks go to chip and daz. While I had concerns initialy about how far it was it seamed a lot quicker going down there than what I thought and the cruise back was fantastic. I especialy liked the fact we basicaly had the roads to ourselves without many anoying cars slowing us down.

Oh and speaking of that I was amazed at how polite the "cockroaches" were in the way they would just pull over to the side and let us all through. On most of our other cruises in qld most people would not move over at all and sometimes they would even deliberatly try and stop us overtaking!!

It was also amusing to see the looks on the faces of the old town locals as they would just stare at all these "sports" cars going past :) The lady in the house where we stopped thought it was one of thoes car rallies that they have on TV sometimes :)

I'll be over tonight to collect the radio.

only bummer of the whole thing were the two cars that were acting sillly. one doinga 6 car pass (white pulsar sss- rathdowney) whilst we were getting organised via radio. the red ma60 supra for trying and denying to race us outside of tweed heads. if you guys are reading this - you are not welcome on these runs.

Yep. I definitely had a great time. I thought the cruise was incident-free - but obviously there had to be one. Luckily nothing particularly major - I hope!

Nice piccies Angus and Soarer 21.

I think I have one or two on my analog.. but doubt they'd be any good. Havta wait for demuire to edit the ones i took on his camera.

Nice to see the familiar faces and get to know them a little better!

Definitely had fun on the twisties - sorry that i took control demuire - next time I spose.

I reckon go-karting or something is next on the agenda too!

Mcleod

I most definately had a great time..

Unfortunately after breakfast at Byron, I suddenly got quite sick.. and still had to drive.. I couldn't keep the food down and ended up getting left behind at the car park at Byron.. I had to refer to the pace notes (thanks soarer21 for printing them for me) and ended up catching up to you all!

And then I was further sick at every stop we had from that point on

BUT, I still had a great time, regardless of how my body was messing me around.

I took PLENTY of pics.. and put them all up at my web site..

http://www.boostcruising.com/journal/entries/10022002.asp

I haven't been on a decent cruise like that in quite a while, many thanks to those that organised it, and to all of the others that turned up, lots of car's in great numbers made for a good cruise.

Yeah the Cruise was well planned and very enjoyable.

Next time I will rember to lighten up the koni's in the VL as my back is stuffed as no-one in NSW roadworks knows how to use a grader when preparing some of those roads :p

Congrats to Chip and Daz for organising it, and to everyone who attended to make it the excellent cruise it was.

OVB471
11-02-02, 04:08 PM
mcleod good to see u get some photos of my misses car in some of those shot thanks

as for the NSW roads i have to say they would have to be some of the worse roads ive been on especially the ones out of byron bay they were shithouse

yes and im suprised OVH666 made it the whole trip without a hassle phew

hopefully next one i will be in one of the calais v8

SOARER21
11-02-02, 04:14 PM

IMOA
11-02-02, 04:34 PM
Great cruise all, I was well pleased I made the trip. Big thanks to chip a daz for all the organisation. To have it go so smoothly with so many people speaks volumes for the effort you guys put in.

And if you guys think those were bad nsw roads just wait till you come down to sydney and we take you through the nasho.

Favourite moment had to be the two poor plods who were 1 minute too early. Coming round that corner and seeing them getting out of the car after just pulling over a pretend 4WD probably for a pissy little offense then looking up and watching 35 modified cars cruise by. Just priceless.

Paydirt
11-02-02, 04:59 PM

in reply to the dood having a whinge about the supra
apparently racing on the highway down there on the highway

we were sitting just up behind him

most of the cars were doing 100 , he did like 110/120
and got in the right lane... Remember there was a truck Just up ahead.??
yahuh. he was passing the truck that was about to slow everyone down.
then all of u guys followed
u must have been racing too then hey?

i would hardly call accellerating from 100 to 120 to pass a truck "racing"

jeez man.

bah

yes old mate i got some pics of the liberty

Coffin
12-02-02, 12:44 AM
Xodus: I think there was a little more than just that, if it was just someone overtaking another vehicle on the road I'm sure we can all live with that, but when there are a few ppl on the UHF saying that this guy is trying to race, or trying to get other participants in the cruise to race its a very different story.

Damo

OVB471
12-02-02, 04:10 AM
I THINK HE was talking about the FLY BY just after we left the park after the stop and the lookout when 2 cars did a fly by past the whole group???????

Synchro-mesh
12-02-02, 07:17 AM
Well I was near the front from Yatala until we picked up the goldies. Then through the range the pulsar and the supra suddnely picked up speed and I went from being 2nd to 8th very quickly. Not sure who the others were but the pulsar and supra were definitley up there first followed by a few others. I was surprised that they didn't pass Chip.

Not sure on the whole story.,. but that's my story on it.

Chipper
12-02-02, 08:35 AM
They did pass me near the Byron turn off, no biggie, but when we left the park, it was requested by 2way that I take the lead again as I knew the route, thats why I overtook the few cars in front, again, no biggie, but the dude in the Pulsar didnt win any friends by doing the same thing.

If its a group outing, you play by the group rules, if you dont like the rules, go out with your own mates and do whatever you like.

Chip

demuire
12-02-02, 08:39 AM
I suppose it didn't help that the guy in the pulsar didn't have a UHF. Then again, half the rest of us didn't either but we played by the rules nonetheless so I don't think that's an excuse.
