I want a turbo 383, and my choices are a chev 350 stroked to 383, or a holden 308 stroked to 383.
Does anyone know which would handle the psi better? or which would be able to be upgraded more to handle more psi...
thanks
Cory

from a reliability standpoint, the 383 stroker chev motor should be better as some say taking the Holden 308 block out to 383 is fraught with danger, whereas with the chev its just the correct block/crank and a bit of machining and bam u have 383

There is a green VB ? around with a Twin Turbo 383 Chev, was in a recent street commodores

The chev would most likely cope better with turbocharging, mainly because its got 5 headbolts around each cylinder as opposed to the 4 of a 308. In practice this does'nt seem to be too much of a problem, if the results of HP heros at summernats over the last couple of years is anything to go by a holden V8 is more than capable of making big HP. How much power do you need?
If it's going into a commodore the holden V8's a much easier proposition, there are a few legality & fitment hassles with a chevy into a commodore.
