Hey ppl,

Still trying to do all the research I can on the 2JZ before I decide if I do the conversion into my 260z....

One thing which has me worried a bit....If I go with the 6spd getrag unit....I think I will basically have to stick with the Supra Diff as well, does anybody know how much modification is going to be needed to fit one of these suckers in?! I have never seen one firsthand, so dont have ANY idea on their dimensions etc...

Cheers
Ray

I would imagine that, if you can afford the 2JZ-GTE with 6-speed, you can afford any diff modification imaginable. Give or take :p

The problem is that I think I will be limited in my diff choices, not because of price, but because I dont THINK there will be many out there that will suit the 6spd gears....I would love just to chuck a 3.9 LSD R200 in there.....but that would prolly give me a terrible ratio for topspeed. The original ratio for the 2JZGTE is about 3.1~ I think......finding another LSD diff of that ratio would not be the easiest I assume.

The Supra 6-speed (V160) ratios are as follows:
3.827 2.360 1.685 1.312 1.000 0.793

I can't see the problem using a conventional diff ratio with this gearbox, although you could probably ignore 1st gear in most applications. :)

does top speed really matter? if its only a street car as long as it doesnt rev too hard in top at the speed limit then it should be fine? the extra accelleration would be used far more than the extra top speed.

You could source a R200 from a different model zed, they go as low as 3.364 if you get one from an auto 280ZX
