Hey guys,

just wondering if any one can help me out.

I am about to replace the front shocks and springs, and was looking at replacing the front Radius Rods and bushes.

In my manual it says to get the bushes pushed out by an experienced dealer.

But can i simply push them out myself carefully?

I mean they are rubber, i can cut them and drill them out or whatever, how hard is it to push the new bushes in?

Is it as hard as they make out?

The car in question is a VL Commodore.

Cheers
Michael

you dont have to be delicate getting them out...be nice putting them in tho. I replaced a set with Nolathane ones...grease them up and use a bolt and large washer to pull them in.

Mate, another good idea,

"using a bolt and washer to pull it through"

i never thought of that one, i was thinking of using a g'clamp or vice to push the bush back in but your idea sounds just as good if not better.

I now feel preety confident getting the bushes back in. With those couple of ideas im sure i will be able to get the bushes back without to much damage. :D

i did the radius rod bushes on my VK....

cut the old ones out with a hacksaw and knife (a REAL bitch of a job) and then put the new -=>2 PIECE<=- Nolathane ones in..... u put a half in from each side..... soooooo much easier than pushing one big one thru :D

I regret doing my radius rod bushes as i could have got full replacement adjustable castor rods for $50 more. Just something to keep in mind.

If you are thinking about replacing the front radius rods I'd have a good look at getting adjustable ones with a rose joint. I did this in mine recently and was quite surprised in the improvement they provided and the price should be very similar.
