hi all,

How can you tell if your blades in your turbo are stuffed?..

Just recently my car began making squeeking noises after revving up and letting it go down..., it seems as though
the turbo is not free wheeling anymore. and that there is something blocking the turbo spinning.

Could it be to do anything with oil? or perhaps something has gone into the turbo turbine ??

Driving is still the same cause you don't hear it under the bonnet , but upon close inspection and when you open the hood
thats when it is cleary audible.
and its not comfortable driving when you know something is not right.. :(

I have a small TD04L turbo off a WRX fitted to a 93 civic.

Can someone please assist, what can I do? ..

Any help greatly appreciated

Thank guys.

it could be a few things but probably bearings. check for end float in the turbo bearings - take the inlet pipe off the compressor and push/pull the shaft in and out - it should barely move in this direction but will move up and down quite a bit. also check how well it spins by hand and listen for any scraping noises. if anything has gone in the compressor side the blades will be damaged as they are only aluminium and spin fast so have a look.
turbos spin at hundreds of thousands of rpms, oil is very important.
