Ok since getting my P's (and driving like a crazed man;) ive realised the galant handling sucks!

Its got some serious bodyroll issues

Is uneasy on dirt.

Very hard to catch when the ass comes out, i almost scared to drive the thing fast through dirt.

and many other things

now i know it needs some descent tyres on it...but what do I do about the bodyroll

How do twin standard sway bars sound for the front(hows it done)?

There were no standard rear sways...i know whitleine make a kit but is there any cheaper option...

Do stiff shocks go with soft springs??? Or is it meant to be the other way around.

And the steering feels unusualy heavy(maybe ive gotten weaker) what could be causing this??

any help much appreciated
Karl

I will refrain from refering to leaf springs as go kart suspension...that way you may get my drift.

your steering woes can be fixed by a wheel alignment...best to get this after you get your new treads...nothing worse than scrubbing new tyres.

A new set of monroe gas shocks may well be enough to set you straight.

don't go and do too much in one hit...try twinning the front bars for a bit before you decide to add a rear bar...and if you do add a rear bar don't make it too big.

to twin the front bar you need longer mounting bolts, spare nuts, 1/4 inch flat steel plates, 2 more swaybar mounts and rubbers.

basically replace the mount bolts and duplicate the mounting arrangement from the original, put the flat steel between the 2 mounts and tighten the nuts. It will all become clearer when you are laying under the car.

remember that bars reduce the grip of the end of the car that they're on (sort of)... so a big front bar will make the car understeer more while a big rear bar will make the car taily.

re shocks, stiffer springs need stiffer shocks to control the spring better. Just think if you've got a stiff spring that REALLY wants to bounce up and down, a soft shock won't be able to stop it from doing so :)

Ideally beef up the front bar, get some good springs and shocks if budget permits (if not, just the shocks themselves if they're worn out). See how you go after that

Camber on the front wheels will also help a bit when you're trying to hold a slide.

its easy and free, have u played with tyre pressure?? try around 38psi and see wot happens :)

believe me...ive played with tyre pressures, but that dosnt change the fact that the tyres are just plain shite.

I found 32 psi rear and about 38psi front to be alright.
