View Full Version : Ford EEC4 tuning for turbo?

hi people, as some may know from my thread elsewhere I am thinking of dropping a turbo on my XF.
it is currently running a completely standard (to my knowledge) EFI motor with the EEC4 engine management.
I am wondering, can I get the ECU reprogrammed to suit the different fuel/ignition requirements when adding a turbo?
would it be easier to use the later ECU running a MAP sensor?
I can have this installed easily and cheaply as my brother is an auto elec. :)

any suggestions will be welcomed, especially if I can retain a ford ECU even if I have to add a couple of extra injectors.

Probably not - The reason being is that we have an EA Falcon with a turbo and it need a small micro-fueler computer & extra injector to richen the mixture up when it goes into positive boost.
Really needs it too; at the moment the little box isn't working and the engine pings when we go to more than about 4psi boost.

Forget about using the XF ecu its way too crude for what you require and tottally inflexible - one of the few times I would recommend fitting a aftermarket ECU or retrofit a Delco onto it (fairly easy conversion on a XF)

hey delco, you seem to be talkin sense :)
what do I need to convert over to the delco?
hopefully I can get it to work with the TFI dizzy that it already has:)
and you can get the delco ECU remapped to suit right? any idea who rewrites them in Adelaide?

I think leon from awsome automotives is ovewr there.

Will need to chabge to the non efi dizzy , lock up adance weights and use a cimira ignition module , other than that wire up same a camira 4 cyl , just add the 2 extra injectors in , one on each wiring branch.V6 memcal remapped and a 2 bar map sensor - easy as pie OR invest in a WolF/Haltech/Autonic/Motec
