My tyres are slick so I need to get new tyres ASAP. ie this weekend. :(

Now the standard size on the SP20 is 195/50/16 on a 6" rim, which is a peculiar size and only gives me about 3 or 4 tyre choices.

BUT, if I go to a 205/45/16 size I have basically any tyre I want.

AND, the standard tyre is a Yokohama Advan A460 that I got 30,000km out of. I have been told that if I went to a Bridgestone RE711 in the wider size (the tyre I want to get), its dearer by about $40/tyre BUT, I would get a lot more km's out of them.

Can anyone help me out here about the size change and the km versus $$$ situation. I really need to know today.

Thanks.

Darren

Don't know about the km vs $$$ situation, but going up a wider size shouldn't be a problem at all :)

Tyre size change is 1.7% - ie less than the difference between new and worn tyres...

10mm wider (ie only 5mm per side) shouldn't be any problem to fit at all.

Dunno if you'd get more life out of the 711's - depends if you use their capabilities or not...

Well, I'm not exactly gentle on tyres, but they have to be better than the Yoko's.

Yoko's always wear relatively quickly from my experience.

I am not positive but I did have 195/60/15 on MX
but it's a size smaller. I had good year NCT 3's V-rated and a really good tyre 30,000ks and slicked well. Don't know what size NCT 3's are in. But Wagon uses H rated different pattern to the V-rated ? about $160 same for F1’s

I run GY F1's 205/50/16 now and they are good but I find the NCT's to be a little more quieter in the wet and on crap roads like a little more rough, grip better than the F1's and they are the flagship tyre ?

I can get F1’s cheaper than NCT3 V-rated don’t know why?
Can anyone explain?
