I think my friend has screwed the voice coils in his speakers and I wanna fix them for a challenge.

Can this be done at all. By looking at the speaker there isn't too much to it.

The speakers are JBL 6x9s

Yes speakers can be re-coiled. For a pair of 6x9s I wouldn't bother though, needs specialist tools.

have u checked the speaker to make sure its the VC?

gently push ur cone in and do you hear a scratching sound?

voice coils can be repaired usually ppl send their speakres down to total recoil in melbourne as they are renowned for great repairs..

Don't bother, just buy some new ones. The parts cost more than the replacement speaker would.

Pete they're from Cliff's system.

They stopped working and he bought some splits.
So I thought I'd try to fix the JBLs and then chuck em in my car when I sell it :)

Since those thieving scum kicked my front speakers in

Cheers though guys for the info.

I'll second the guys at Total Recoil - they do a marvelous job

Its not something you should try at home even though I did, bourght some surround for a speaker that the surround cracked away and I did it pretty good, I'm sure the pros will do it better.

If the speakers are worth more than $150 each then its most likely worth fixing them up, if not then just buy new ones....

Cheers
