but the only thing is it has no rca outs. is there any high output to rca converters i can buy or do they reduce sound quality? it sounds ok i have a sony xm 222mk2 amp with a 10" sub in a sealed box atm and it sounds good till i start giving it some, and it sounds like the amp is getting to much distortion in wich im thinking is from the high input.

any help would be appreciated

cheers

High>Low Line level convertors reduce sound quality. In actualty you are using the same system now by hooking up the speaker outputs to the high-in on the amp. You can't get around this since the signal from the head unit's DAC is amplified by the onboard amp, then reduced by the convertor in the Sony amp, then RE-amplified to produce your sub output. All that conversion leads to lots of distortion.

When I got rid of my stock head unit+LLC and replaced it with a quality head with RCA output the sound quality increased immensely, it was almost like going from cassette to CD :).

i have installed that hi-to low convertor from jaycar with some problems in a mates car. after we had insalled it the unamped speakers had VERY littel osund comming from them as far as i can remember....

imo its just best to buy a hu with RCA's :)
