Can't park the car anywhere nowadays even out the front of a friend's house whilst you're sitting in the loungeroom with only a curtain and window separating you from the car.

After getting to work this morning I see 2 scratches along the edge of the rear driver's door, open it and there's 2 matching ones on the inside edge of the door frame and slight gouging. This couldn't have been done by a shopping trolley, looks more like a crowbar to me.

I've had 3 other occasions where dickheads have stuck screwdrivers into the passenger doorlock to try and twist but got nowhere, instead leaving gouges all around the keyhole in the duco.

Still counting my lucky stars no one has actually gotten into the car though, or else feel the pain of 4 sirens in your ear. Not even disconnecting the battery is going to do anything, I just rigged up a full battery backup system :D.

What car do you have? And what is making it attractive to thieves?

Verada... it's as inconspicuous as any other and has fully stock exterior and wheels, only had suspension work but you can't see anything except that it's lower. Stereo gear is very stealth and hides behind factory grills, I always take the head unit face with me. I guess most of them are opportunist thieves, since they think P plater parked outside/near clubs at 6am must belong to someone who stashes drugs under the seat ;)... Friends have had cars broken into at the same carpark on saturday mornings etc, usually people coming out of clubs and desperate for more drugs.

Other time was at Chadstone shopping center, I think their carpark was second only to Highpoint in car thefts a couple of years ago. I was parked right at the front entrance to Myer next to the security booth too! Was on Xmas eve '99.

The other night... just a dodgy neighborhood :(
