1982 RA60 Engine Conversion.. WHICH ENGINE?!

Hi all!1 yes b4 u say anything i know my name is rx4boy.. the reason being i used to own a rx4/929 *i still do but sellin it* and now i own a 1982 ra60 celica.. the stock engine in it is absoulte shit house!!!... i was thinking how much would it be to buy and fit a 4agze??

for those that remember i was quoted 8500 to fit a 13bt FULL converion.. and that is obioulsy WAYYY too much for me...

i was just wondering

1) wut engines should i b looking at?? i dont mind turbo. BUT they cost WAY too much and as this is my first car.. i will keep this for awhile then get a REAL car :D so i dont want to spend WAY to much on it...

and 2) i was thinking 4agze.. would any1 know roughly how much it would be drive in drive away to fit one of these???

ohh btw i have 5 speed if that makes any diff :P

Are you kidding? There are heaps of people on ToyMods with RA60's. Go back and have another look!

The most common conversion for the RA6x Celica these days is the 1G-GTE twin-turbo 2 litre six. It goes in relatively easily and with up to 200hp on tap it really wakes up the old Celica. Compare this to your current 21R-C which has less than 100hp, and you can see it's a pretty good upgrade.

The 4A-GZE is a small engine which is suited to small cars, like the AE86 Sprinter for example. The Celica has more weight to haul around, so you want something a bit bigger. And since you have more engine bay space to play with, why not chuck something decent in there?

BTW $8.5k isn't a lot of money for a radical engine conversion. If this figure scares you, you should either consider doing the job yourself or give up on the idea completely. Engine conversions are NOT cheap.
