Hello,

I am looking at an upgrade for my R31 Skyline's braking system, I find the current factory brakes quite woeful, they'll stop me adequately from 100km/h once. Without letting them cool down for a long period, they just tend to fade and feel bad.

Another thing is they dont have enough stopping power - Dunlop FM901's on the front (205/50/16) and on some surfaces you cant lock the brakes at full pedal pressure...

I'm using the standard Bendix pads.

I've been looking for quite a while for the R31 Skyline GTS front brake upgrade package (twin spot calipers and 274mm rotors) and have found them to be quite difficult to obtain...

Main question is, is there anything simple to do to upgrade these brake systems? Are there better pads that could make an improvement with the existing rotors and calipers that dont chew out the rotors?

Thanks in advance

There are a few options;
Use a R32 GTS rotor which can be purchased undrilled and then have them driled for the 4 stud pattern. Also use the GTs Caliper.

Try Race Brakes in Melb. for a kit.

I was under the impression that the R32 GTS (t)? caliper and rotor cannot bolt up to the stub axle on the R31 Skylines and the wheel offset is incorrect...

I upgraded my standard R31 Silhouette (Auto) front Rotors to DBA cross drilled and slotted and they made a pretty big difference - I am also running Metal pads. Cold braking can be scarey, but adequate (just let them warm up a tad before your taking to mashing the stop pedal too hard) and you will be fine.

Whilst they are not as good as what the larger GTS ones will be.

The SVD GTS-2 Rotors are the same as from the Import R31 Turbo GTS and most of the R31 club guys are now chosing these - hence the rocking horse poo availability.... (until now)

250mm x 22mm for the Local R31
274mm x 22mm for the Local SVD GTS and Import GTS
280mm x 30mm for the R32 GTS-t
296mm x 32mm for the R32, R33 GT-R (Non V-Spec)
324mm x 30mm for the R32, R33 and R34 GT-R V-Spec (Brembos)

I certianly like the sound of the GTS Rotor blanks and Caliper Kit.
