View Full Version : Theft deterents???
I have just read all these and no I wanna prevent it.
What alarms do you guys recommend/ or what features should i look for?
If its a daily driver what can I do to prevent theft (just bought a kill switch), are there any other things like kill switches etc that would help?
Any other input greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Walking through a carpark, i saw a lancer with the windows half way down, and no- one in the car, i thought :wtf: would you leave your windows down in a dodgy carpark??
Then i saw the giant, pissed off looking alsatian dog in the back seat! no one would f**k with that car, i guarentee it!!
Get a dog, no one takes any notice of alarms going off anymore:(
P.S. if your car is injected, try taking out the fuel relay if u r in a really dodgy area, its a pain in the ass, 'cause you have to lift the bonnet on most cars, but its better than returning to an empty spot.
CHEERS:)
ok then, whats fuel relay look like?

Depends what sort of car you drive, some cars have a fuse box/ relay box combined, others have them seperate.
Its a little plastic covered cube shaped thing- Approximately 1 inch diameter, when you pull it out from the box, there will be three prongs coming off the bottom of it.
There will probably be a whole heap of relays in there, and they all look the same, you might have to look at the wiring diagram (usually on the lid of the box) to work out which is which.
With the correct relay removed, the car will start, run for a few seconds, then die, and it won't re-start untill the relay is replaced.
I'ts basically a poor- man's fuel cutout, but it only works on some injected cars.
Hope dat helps ya:)
The best anti-theft thing i've seen was in a Series 1 RX-7 that was *fully sick man!*LOL
He had a Motec computer to run it, so everytime he left the car, out came the motec!
I thought this would be an awesome way of defeating thieves from stealing u're car, i mean if u can't start it then its gunna take a bit to take it.
Thanks

hehe good security measure, but ide hate to lose that motec!
still, the car could be towed :(
If they want to take your car they will take it. It is totally f*#ked but that is how it is. If they want it bad enough it will get towed. :( Happened to me, fortunately it was only cos I was in a tow-away zone....... $165 later and I got the car back.
Like the big scary dog in the back seat trick :)
I will answer this in 3 ways
1 alarm go flashpoint top of line it costs but is a hard model to counter Black widow would follow but to get the signal of a remote is dead easy. A few others that are bad Trackers waste of money unless you next to me and have a car over 100,000 big ones. But trackers only good on children. As some one alread said if they want it they will get it.
2 don't advertise don't play music loud before you park that just make me want to get my pliers out and take your deck face or no face. 5min job. Mag wheels Lock nuts work only if you have 2 different types.
3 don't park in the smae place same level unless you have too or are not afraid.
4 pull out fuses and all that will get your car damaged more so, and if you own a WRX they really want just lik some poor dude in blacktown they will car jack you, before you pull the plug.
5 kill switch only you know about. Fitted it to a mate corrolla parked came back car had broken windows dash damaged but the rest of it was still there tried the stereo But I use special screws (i only got the interface for it) and slightly welded bits of metal to the car. They got the AMp but that's all.
6 The dog works but hey I have keep my ear to the ground and seen more dead dogs then bitten car scum theives.
If you can build a simple device to cut your car that is not known
a good example is if you know your IC' and electronics is a insertable pull out chip that cuts your engine ECU.
I have one that uses the current locking device on the EATX and you can't get it out of park, force all you want all you do is bend the shifter.
But one Tow truck and you better hope the COPs are on the case.

too true, if u display your car, your saying to thieves, "hey look at me!! come and get it!"
just have a good alarm (atleast 2 immob, loud siren, etc) and some common sense.
all i do in doegy ares is take out the ignition fuse when i leave the car and turn on my f8@kin loud alarm seems to work for me

Put in a couple of kil switches, chances are they will find one, but say you have one in a funny place inside the wheel arch one nder the dash and well use your imagination. Or you could always do the Mr. bean and take your steering wheel with you.

The best trick i've seen (for auto's anyway) is to stick a padlock in between the 'lifting up bit' and the top of the T-Bar -- they arn't going no where :p
My cousin used to pull all his leads off and carry them with him wherever he went...

wheel clamp it?
seen some cars around stanmore do this.
This might be a bit extreme but I heard of a family in South Australia who had a substantial jewellry collection. To deter thieves they put a live taipan snake in the display case with jewellry. (True story no BS). Someone in the family must've been a snake handler or something. Anyway if your good with snakes, why not stick one in your car, bit extreme but........
If I was a car thief i sure as hell wouldnt f--k with a taipan, those things strike b4 you even know whats going on.

their premium for public liability would have been huge ;)

gone in 60 seconds styles:D
I used to have Microtech and used to take the computer out whenever i had to leave the car. It was a bit of a pain in the a$$ to carry round all the time.
Bottom Line DON'T ADVERTISE, you may have a fast car but your plates can still be traced.
Kill Switches are probably the best and I also have 2 fuel cutouts, and you'll be doing it tuff to start the car. But if they want it along comes the tow truck and away goes your car.
Bring on the Taipan, at least that way they'll get a nasty bit when they strip it for parts. :D

Simple do what im going to do go and get a fire alarm bell (dont want to know where i got mine from) and stick it under your back seat. Not only wont they they be able to sit in the car everyone will look cause its a fire alarm.:D
Yeah i have been reading about the Fuel Cut thing you guys were talking about.
Is it as simple as Cutting your Fuel pump Wire and adding a toggle switch and hiding it somewhere in the car.
I know there are 3 wires to the Fuel pump. Which one do i cut. I know one of them is earth and whats the other two? ANyone knows the colour?
Cheers!:D
