Steve,

Do DBA have any plans to make motorcycle rotors? The reason I ask is, they are HORRENDOUSLY priced from the manufacturer. To give you an idea, two floating discs (not including all the bits you need, just the rotors themselves) from Honda are around $400 each for a VFR750. That's about the normal price, some manufacturers like BMW charge even more..

And I wanna know why! Are they different from a metallurgical stand-point? As far as I can tell, bike brakes are just (usually) cross-drilled, solid rotors that happen to mount a bit different to a car's brakes. Diameters are usually pretty small too (sub 330mm mostly), and thicknesses aren't great either. So where's all my money going?!

I reckon DBA could get in there and make a killing.. talk to me off-list if you want. :D

Chris,
We only make one bike rotor and that is for an old Ducatti that are not available anywhere else.
The new style bike rotors are alloy steel not cast iron anymore and it requires a totally different manufacturing process.

Have you tried EBC brakes in Melb. I think they bring in bike discs from the U.K 03 9462 3210
Its worth asking.!

EBC would be the place to call as I KNOW they do go kart discs and pads etc.

I assume that these would be very similar to those on a bike. :)

EBC make brake discs, but they're sitll farking expensive. :( $480 each or something for a VFR rotor.. and like I said, it's a small, solid, drilled item :( oh well, I guess it's the metallurgy as Steve said..
