Hi Steve,

I’m trying to settle on a brake combination for a 180B rallycar. I’m kinda looking for a low budget upgrade.
I have been advised that a good combo would be Verada vented disks (DBA425) & VL Turbo calipers on the front, with R31 Skyline rear disks & calipers on the back. I’ll probably use Ferodo DS3000 pads with these.

I think this sounds pretty good to me, but mainly from a price perspective. (ie. cheaper than the 300ZX rotors/calipers & Pagids).

What do you think? Would there be anything else you could suggest?

Thanks for your time.
Ta
Damian.

Matches. A box of matches and a couple of litres of petrol are the best things you could add to a 180B... esp if you're going to rally it. :p

Ballast has the R31 conversion on his (F&R), and it works pretty well - probably will work well with decent pads in it... $300 from Fast Freddy at Lennock for all the bits apparently.

Or just go the Magna / Commodore option. I will stand corrected, but I think the Turbo and non-turbo Commode calipers are the same (discs were different). Stuart down at Smash Palace will look after you (price wise) on the bits if you tell him you know me, and that its for a rally car.

But remember at all times: Datsuns are dirty and wrong. You'll end up like YRALLY....

Spac, spac..spac,

I cant even come back with the standard "at least my car's not butt ugly" response any longer, can I?

In speaking to Ballast, I got the impression he wasnt totally happy with the fronts? I think I'll go the Verada stuff as its been tried & tested. Thanks for the contact, I might give Stuart a call.

I also want to have a chat to you about your seam welding.....
I'll PM you later.

Ta
Damo.
