View Full Version : how about slotted, and cross drilled
Steve, first off, i would like to thank, you, it is now pretty obvious your presence is VERY appreciated.
ok i own a VK and i just use it for street use, however it is quite a powerful car. i have read the pro's and cons' for both slotted, and cross drilled.
However i was wondering what you think of slotted and cross drilled disks? just wondering why doesn't everybody go for these?? is there something i don't know about drilled? i know under heavy loads they may crack, but is that the only reason??
cheers
Tim,.

Cross drilled discs have a bad rep for cracking on the track.
This has led some people to believe they are not safe at all. These discs work very well on the street especially in wet weather or when a little extra bite is required. They are not suitable if you want to hoon around on the street like you are on a race track. I wouldn't use them if you are towing a load either.
Basically a Cross Drilled disc is designed for performance braking in a sensible manner. If you know what I mean.

Are you trying to suggest that having my brakes catch on fire on the street is not sensible braking? hehehehehhe
I'd argue that it was a lot more sensible than trying to make it around the corner at the speed I was doing before I braked.. :P

And this people is why we have Queensland. A place where total nutter's can roam free with their own kind.
