Guy's,
We should have posted this earlier,
DBA does not make complete brake kits or do brake conversions on vehicles. We do investigate the possibilities of part swaping on similar vehicles but only for suggestions to brake upgrade workshops.
We do make certain popular discs without stud holes for conversions and flat bolt on discs for two piece rotors.
We are more than happy to help with possible rotor options and to give more details than what is listed in the catalogue.
Please don't be offended if we don't answer a question about how to alter your vehicle to take a different brake set up. It's because we haven't done it ourselves and would prefer not to offer half baked ideas.
One good thing about this forum is that if you post your question here, there is most likely someone else who has done your intended modification before.
Thanks.....:)

Hi Steve,
I emailed DBA Sales with these questions 2 weeks ago, but have received no reply, so I'll throw em you way.
I have an 82 SA22C SII RX-7.
I would like to pu slotted DBA rotors on the front and possibly change the rears as well.
However, I have to admit, last time I had the hubs/rotors off I didn't take much notice of how the front rotor was attached to the hub.
Can you advise me on what DBA Part No:'s I need as well as whether they are a simply bolt on procedure or whether I need 'hats' etc.
Thanks in Advance.

Sorry for the delay in reply.
Front Disc Rotor: DBA-336
Rear Disc Rotor: DBA-935
Front disc rotor only available as a standard disc. We cannot slot this disc because of the design of the rotor, there is a flange that extends up past the pad face area thus not allowing the ability for any tooling to slot or drill the rotor pad face area.
However, rear disc is available as a slotted version.
Hope this helps you. Check out our online catalogue for dimensions of these rotors if you need them.

hi, i was looking into getting a pair of front slotted rotors for my honda civic vti-r hatch 96, and was wondering if dba make them for my car?
i dont know much about brakes but will these rotors plus a brake pad upgrade be worthwhile?
how much is it for the par as well?
thank you
Hi Steve,
Just to check with you whethr DBA has any front rotor (1 or 2-pc) upgrade for '99 Skyline 25GT-t ?
Thanks in advance.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I beleive the discs on the GTT are 296mm diameter x 32mm thick.
We do have the larger 324mm x 30mm GTR discs that will bolt on with GTR calipers.
We plan to do a two peice version in the next few months.

These discs slotted plus a good pad will definitely give better fade resistance than standard.

The ones you mentioned are for R33 GTS(DBA No.926). The front rotor dia for the GTT shud be 310mm and as for the thickness, I'm not sure if it is 30 or 32mm.
Wud appreciate if you cud let me know the thickness and also the height of the rotor. Pls update me when you hv the 2-pc rotor out in the mkt.

Oh No..!
Another Skyline disc.
I have heard a little about this one but have no samples or a chassis (VIN) number to order them from Japan. If you could help with this number, we can start looking into it.
We opened a can of worms last year when we decided to support the Skylines. We have had all different shapes and sizes pop up out of the woodwork ever since.
Thanks
Well by now there shud be numerous import Skylines running in OZ incl. ER34s & shud be much problem getting hold of one.
BTW my ride's a 1999 ER34 25GT-t 4 doors & the chassis no.: ER34018821
Hope it helps.

I'am not aware of a larger rotor that will bolt straight on. Pathfinder rotors are close but not the same.
As with most utes these front brakes are too small for a loaded vehicle. The easiest upgrade is to use slotted rotors and a good metal pad (Bendix) on the front.
hey steve is the slottd good for racing on my gemini? or should i get the x drilled and the slotted?
alternatively has anyone got a brake upgrade for a gemini using a vented disc and a rear disc swap aswell?

go here for your rear disc setup.
as for the front. he may still have that too.
If not then DBA221 undrilled and slotted.
Commodore calipers. Then you just need to make it fit.
oh i do have a CRS kit here to fit ford discs and that but i want to use that as a last resort.
It means geting HQ calipers and falcon hubs and rotors

Slotted is realy the only choice for track work. This will reduce pad fade and glazing so you'll have fairly consistant braking throughout the race.
Cross drilled rotors don't realy belong on the track ( Porsche is the exception because of weight and distribution) The stresses induced with serious track work will pop any cross drilled rotor sooner than Slotted or plain.
yeap i have DBA 007s on the front and i wish they were vented.
was looking at the honda S2000 as htey nearly match up
How much roughly are the Honda S2000 slotted rotors?

Hey, i have a 1984 Bluebird Wagon, was wondering what brake setup i could do as it has a CA18DET and needs to stop :)
cheers
hey guys im currently investigating a brake upgrade and im planning on using a pug 604 rotor. the problem is it is a 273mm diameter rotor and i need it to be 266mm meaning i would need to machine it down. firstly, do you make a slotted 604 disc and can it be machined down 6mm? alternatively, is there another disc with the same dimensions as the 604 disc but 266mm in diameter instead of 273mm? can i buy this disc as a blank cause i need to redrill it anyway to fit my car.
thanks, kevin.

Take a look at the DBA221 Magna disc. Its 266 but its 24mm thick. This may or may not be an issue depending on what caliper your trying to run.
What are your stuffing it onto ??
nah they need to be 20mm thick.
the setup im planning to run in my sprinter is corona XT130 struts, hilux LN106 calipers and peugeot 604 rotors. 604 rotors are very similar to the corona rotor in dimensions bar being 20mm thick, 7mm to big in diameter and 1 mm taller (the hat?). the hilux caliper originally bolted over a 20mm disc so it should bolt up good with a 1mm spacer to accomodate for the taller disc.
so can i order a custom blank disc or can i machine down in diameter a slotted disc?

A friend of mine is doing this right now to his RA celica. He's using XT130 struts and LN106 calipers.
He put the calipers over the DBA221
If you use a 276mm disc you have to machine it down too far and this cuts into the slotted area.
Take a look at the early magna disc and you might be suprised.
You can actually mill alittle out of the calipers to accomodate the thicker disc and still fit the pads in.
From memory there is a thin shim that goes between caliper and strut.
I'll ask him exactly what he did if you like.
yes i would like if its not too much trouble :)
these DBA221's that you speak of are they the 604 rotors or are they magna rotors?
i would go thru the catalogue my self but i dont have the time atm.
also can i get blanks made to suite given specs? i presume these would be way expensive if so.

DBA 221 is a TM,TN,TP Magna or HG Galant rotor
O.D = 265
HEIGHT = 45.5
ROTOR THICKNESS = 24
MIN.TH = 22.4
CENTRE BORE = 69
STUDS = 4
Sorry but we can only do specials in minimum orders of 50 pieces because of setup costs.
The problem with specials is that it can be a nightmare getting replacement discs later on.
dbasteve,
I was wondering if the slotted rotors for the S15 200SX have the kangaroo paw technology?
I browsed through the dba website but could not find a definite answer.
Thanks in advance.

Not yet. This one is due for a rebirth in DEC/JAN.
hey, i have currently got n15 calipers and discs on teh front and standard drums on the back.
i'm running the ca18det and am finding stopping distance increasing everyday..
should i convert the rear to disc before i start re-upgrading the front?
how much difference will this make?
Hi Steve,
I am looking at upgrading the front brakes on my XY GT Falcon.
Do you guys have larger size rotors or know of a good swap with
another model (XA-XF brakes?).
The rear I think should be fine with XC GT finned drums.
Any ideas on making this thing stop?
As I would like to do some track days etc I would lik it to stop very well.
Thanks for your time
Cheers

If the stopping distance is increasing you probably have crappy pads, bad fluid, very worn rotors or all of the above.
When pads and rotors wear down they will fade quicker and increase stopping distance.
If you haven't already done so, check that you have a good rotor/pad combination on the front and change the brake fluid if it hasn't been done for a few years.

hi, dbasteve, would you be able to tell me if a datsun 200b rotor will bolt up to a 1600 hub?
we need to upgrade the brakes to 200b size for engineering (put a 2L motor in the 1600) and need to know if the 200b rotor would bolt straight on, without having to change the struts.
thanks
oh and do dba make a slotted rotor for the 200b/bluebird?
i understand they use 240K rotors and brakes becuase the struts bolt up ?
yeah the struts whole package is interchangeable, but i dont want to change the stuts and springs, just got new 1600 ones, just need to change rotors and calipers, and need to know if the 200b ones are interchangeable.

The location diameter and stud PCD is different on these two discs so the answer would be no for Plan 'A'. The discs are designed for two different stub axles.
We do slot the 200b discs though.
ok thanks for that, now i just have to find out if the 200b hub assembly bolts up to the 1600 strut.
thanks anyway

Hey dbasteve. Just a question, i would like to put some nissan front calipers (either 300ZX or skyline) onto my VL. I am just wondering if the is a rotor that i may be able to use or some sort of adaption? Of course the hub and rotor are a one piece? Any info would be great.
Thanks

Gavsport in Sydney make steel hubs for VL/VN conversions to a VT setup. PH 02 9673 0988 He probably has a reseller in Brisbane.
1. The Skyline calipers suit a 30mm or 32mm thick rotor depending on which model.
2. You need a rotor with a large offset (height) to clear your wheels. About 72.5mm from the inside rotor face to the mounting face of the hat.
3. Skyline rotors may have too short an offset to use. Generally 46mm offset.
The most common VL/VN big brake conversion includes a steel hub, DBA 046B HSV 330mm x 28mm rotor, and a Corvette C4 caliper (PBR) with a dogbone bracket. You need 17" wheels for this setup.
What wheels do you have and have you already bought the Nissan calipers?
I may be able to check the wheel clearances for you.
Datto1200
10-01-03, 09:19 PM
Thanks for that. I have 18" wheels. Yeh i have thought about the VT swap but it has been hard to find an adapter hub. Will try the place you mentioned. I like the nissan ones though as they are 4 spot.
Thanks

Yes,
280mm x 30 DBA 909U (undrilled)
296mm x 32 DBA 926U
324mm x 30 DBA 928U
The centre hole will be 68mm.
Hey Steve,
I've upgraded the front brakes on mt VLt to 300zx 4pots and rotors, details here (http://www.users.bigpond.com/allanreynolds/twinvl/)
The rotors are a little dodgy, not in a safty way but theres alot of work to replace them.
What i wanted to know is if i can get hubs to suit the vl stub axle that i can fit hat over rotors to (to keep the same wheel offset with hats fitted)?
Mainly because i wan't to upgrade again to something better for circuit racing, around a 330mm rotor. The caliper i can take care of.
Another thing is can i get rotors custom made to the correct rotor offset? or would i have to use something currently availibly?
I can move the caliper around a little to suit!
Cheers, Darren.

Darren,
You can buy steel hubs for VL to VT conversions from a few different people. Gavsport in Sydney (02 9673 0988) make them.
With this VT hub you can fit DBA 046B rotors. The 046's are used on the V8 Brutes. These discs are 330mm x 28mm. We also do a 343mm x 32mm VX VY HSV two piece rotor which fits in a 17" wheel.
These two discs would be the best choice as they are common upgrades for street and track. This means that they are constantly being improved/developed for high end use. You may try to use something else and find that it will always be only a street class product.
You can get two piece rotors custom made to suit your offset but we don't make them. The rotors would be DBA and the hats made by a brake specialist workshop. Just be careful you can buy spares in 1 or 2 years time. There are quite a few good workshops that hold stock and others that change with the wind.:wtf:
Personally I would move the caliper and use standard rotors. At least you can buy the rotors from almost anywhere. You only have to fit the calipers once!
Good luck with the project!
Steve.
Thanks for the info steve, I should have read the posts above before posting myself...sorry :knock:

Hi Steve,
I have had a look at the DBA website and it did not have a price or availability of the Pug N5 306 GTi-6 (97 to 99) disc DBA # 275, there was only a listing for the 306 in general DBA # 273.
Maybe I am just blind :)
Just wondering if you stock the 306 GTi-6 part, and, do DBA make a caliper to suit this car?
Thanks in advance

Hi Steve,
Just wondering what the biggest brakes I can put on my 91 Toyota Supra??
Mine is non turbo but I doubt it make much difference what I can put on it.
I'd like to change all four at once, but my front's need replacing so I think I need to replace those first.
Any part numbers and RRP would be greatly appreciated!
For my car it says DBA no 715. I don't know if these are the same size as standard, but the guy at ABS says the diameter of my front brakes are slightly bigger.
Thanks.
