Thanks GTSBoy.
"The Green (458 deg C) heat paint should have fully turned white and possibly the Orange (550 deg C) paint turned Yellow on the outside edges of the rotors when bedded correctly."
Anyone care to tell me what these heat paints are? Or when I see the rotors on my car it will become obvious?
You probably don't have any thermal paint on your rotors (it is applied to the outside edge of the rotor in stripes of the different grades to show the peak temperature reached). That page was specific to the WRX competition rotors (although the method is good for street rotors too) and so I would guess that they only apply the paint to comp stuff. You can probably get some from DBA or from a race team if there is one near you. It may also be readily available from engineering supply places near you, just look in the Yellow Pages and make a few calls.
cheers

The procedure is the same, when your rotors are seasoned correctly the braking surfaces will have a bronze colour to them or maybe a little blue depending on the pads you are using.

Heat paint is a great idea as it gives you a guide to your temps at its hottest. However the price of paint isn't really cheap...we have it at $60 per bottle and to do the job right you need at least 3 or 4 bottles to gauge different temps...so its not cheap. Thankfully DBA now does it for us on WRX rotors.
Another thing is you'll hardly use stuff all of it in your lifetime so you've paid good bucks for something you won't use much.
Maybe we can T up a time and date to get your wheels off and just dab alittle on, for no charge. Let me know.

Thanks Dattoman,
We would like to do the thermal paint on more discs in the range but at 3 x $200 per 200ml tin plus a volunteer to paint it on gets expensive. Especially when we make 2000 discs a day.....
Over the next few months we will add it to the GTR discs and our new two piece HSV, GTR, STi discs when they are ready.
