...and have only started researching brakes. What does cross-drilling and slots do? Is it to allow room for gasses to escape and to minimise glazing? I'm only guessing.
Also, I drive a 97 Magna and noticed that under heavy breaking, down hill with a full car load, there was a 'loverly' grinding noise coming from the front brakes. I'm thinking that the pads need replacing as they might be past the good stuff causing lost of traction. A mate suggested warped rotors but I didn't feel any vibration through the steering wheel. They're also pretty squealy at the moment but that doesn't bother me so much.
Any ideas?
Also, when they are up for replacement, I plan to get them upgraded to DBA something and some good pads. Suggestions anyone? It's not for racing, I'm just rather safety minded. Is there any point getting cross drilled and slotted gold rotors or anything like that? Any point worrying about the calipers?
Thanks in advance,
