Hey guys just looking for some help here. I have a 91 FWD (auto) GX Subaru Liberty (n/a EJ22). Was thinking about an engine conversion for it. either the TT B4 engine or the WRX engine. Wondering how much work would be envolved, better engine to put in etc. I was sorta hopeing to keep it FWD to be different. Any Help would be great...

ummm yes im quite possibly nuts!!..

It was perviously my parents car, was given to me as an 18th present. Turning 21 in feb so.... :).
Mine came outa the factory in FWD form :(. I love it to bits, just needing more power. Its either that or sell it and buy an Aw11 Mr2 or Z2 Soarer....

Cheers for the help mate!! :worship:

a friend of mine is doin a conversion on his liberty wagon 93model.

Dumping in a LIBERTY RS engine.
I think about $1600+/- for all the work...
i think thats including his exhaust/cooler pipings
Just need to provide half cut. :D

Call Rev Rite Performance 9648 0264 and talk to FRED.
Tell him eli with the white180sx refered you. :D

he'll give you a very good price.

it should be good.

ask me again in 3weeks time.
my friends one should be finished then.

it'll only take em 1 week to do all the work but they're not starting on his one till later :D

gives him time to source around some perfromance parts to be fitted at the same time :D

good luck bro..

that $1700 - was that the price they quoted you.. :D

You're better off getting a liberty/legacy RS frontcut.

Mainly cause you will need the different crossmembers.

Speak to Silent Bob or NAliberty on these forums about it. NAliberty is about to do a conversion on his in about a month, and as researched it all.

Ohh and you should really do a 4wd conversion. cause unless you can somehow get an LSD in the front you won't get any control.

The Pupat is right.

my mates got a liberty wagon 4WD and transplanting an RS engine.

he got a front cut and everything should pretty much bolt on.

if yours is a FWD then you could run into traction problems :D

Im on casual so I doubt i'll see any free cash :P. Gov. funded projects sounding about on the money at the moment, not many decent jobs were I live.

Even with an LSD, your still going to have a problem with an EJ20TT

go the 4wd
even if it takes you longer to save

Gruntrose: you can convert a FWD to an AWD pretty easily. You can either do it using an RS font cut...or a more interesting on it go to a GT Forester 'Box. 4.44 ratios, hydraulic (Spell?) clutch, and an LSD in the rear. With an uprated clutch it's actually fairly fast, and can pull good skids. Ohh and with only the NA motor you won't break the 'Box. Trust me I've seen some try to and you can't :p :D

Only time you won't break a subie box.
