Depends. Are you entrusting all the work to a panel beater? if so, full respray inlcuding door sills and engine bay could set you back $5k++.

Do you just want the outside done? Inside doors etc?
Does it have to last more than a month?
What about boot & engine bay?

The cost could be from $1k or so if you do as much as possible yourself & can find someone who'll do a minimal amount of work & let you do most of it, to $10k if you want to drop it somewhere & pick it up a few months later and want a spotless job.

Beware ... I paid $7k for a bare-metal respray, and am very unhappy with it.

I got quoted $5k by a mob in meadowbank to respray the fridge of fury the same colour, even if I did all the welding and R&R of all the parts and all other grunt work.

the flip side is a little KE30 corolla race car I once had, we sanded it back with a brick and sprayed it red with house paint, all up cost was $50 and a brick. looked pretty crap but it was a disposable car anyway, and it looked better than 6 different shades of rust and primer that it was :D:D:D

It's been back once; problem is that it isn't driveable, and the driveway is long & sucky so it's a pain to drag the car up to the tow-truck (no tow-truck will fit down the driveway). I've recently found even more stuff that needs fixing, including enough scale on the inside of the driver's-side boot wheel-well that when I lightly wire-wheeled it off I've actually gone through the metal in a few places. So I'll killrust it & paint it, and get it repaired properly when the car's on the road.
And that's not the only problem, either.

I might add that I stripped all trim & interior for that $7k, but didn't do any panel or paint-stripping (or most of the underbonnet stuff).

Seeing as you want it black, it's going to be expensive, a basic rule with painting a car is the darker the colour, the more flawless the panelwork underneath has to be. Dark colours show up imperfections far more than light ones. It really depends on how straight & rust free your car is to start with, & even if it's perfect you've still got to pull the engine out, the doors bonnet & boot have to come off etc. Changing a cars colour is a large expensive job, it's easy to spend 5k +, you've also got to find someone whose willing to do that kind of work, will do a good job & won't rip you off. Or you can learn to do it yourself, which saves a lot of money, but will probably turn out a bit ordinary on your 1st attempt, but thats how you learn. There are TAFE courses you can do to learn basic panel beating & spray painting.

I recently got a quote from camperdown prestige ( near usyd, and surrounded by "fulsik" cars).

For the 240Z which is currently a mouldy green(real mould), I want to change it to a 2pak white inside and out, doorjambs, engine bay everywhere.

They quoted roughly 4500 which includes straightening out bodywork, oven baking etc etc.
I have already stripped the car of all panels, interior, engine bay and its basically just a rolling chassis.

I thought this was pretty cheap and i am not looking for a showstopping finish.

Oh and one more thing, they have their own trailer which is quite handy.

I thought f@#k it and just bought a whole heap of gear to spray my car at home in the same color (2 pack black....muhahahahahaha!!!!). I ain't forking out the cash to have a panel beater do it cos i wasn't happy with the work i had done a while back, by mate of my dad's who did really good prices for me as a favor.
If i f@#k it up, i can bite the bullet and start again.
