I have this strange problem with my brakes.
Usually around the city, the car will pull up straight. Once in awhile it pulls left slightly, and sometimes it pulls right slightly.
Last week for about ten minutes it was pulling quite violently to the right. And then it fixed itself. I checked the brake lines and found that the brake hose on the right front calliper had come a little loose and there was a trickle of brake fluid leaking out, that could have been why... (left suspension depress, suspension geometry changes and left front wheel turns right a little). Fixed it, brakes seemed fine again.
Then I went on a big drive to NSW through Mt Lindsey, all almost all the way there and back the car was very violently pulling right, to the extent that it was obvious that only the left front calliper was working (only the left front will dip on brakes). Stopped several times to look, couldn't see anything wrong. Then the right front calliper started making squeely noises, generally whenever I braked.
I figured maybe the brake had binded, and overheated with the long drive and maybe I've glazed the pads causing the squeeling.
Then as I got back to Brisbane it seemed to fix itself, and now it's back to the usual usually straight and sometimes otherwise thing... And it's generally quiet, it squeels a little once in awhile.
Any ideas what's causing this? Intermittent binding? If I rebuild my callipers would this help?
