whats the main difference, advantages and denifites from using slotted and dimpled Brembo rotors in comparison to the 280x30 nissan rotor?
rice factor or real difference noticable?
heat disipation? rotor design?
what exactly do slots do? clean the pad?
dimples? give the gas somewhere to go temporarily?
cross drilling is for looks, slotting allows cleaner contact with the pads

dimples look cute.
and not being drilled all the way thru they are less likely to crack
Though I've never seen brembo dimples ones
Decnt brembos aren't drilled thru either. the holes are cast into them for strength.......on porsches and Ferarris anyway

ye, i've sourced brembo slotted/dimpled rotors for $330/pair inc shipping to aus =) 280x30mm drilled for 5 stud or 4 stud..
thats all, i want to know performance difference
slots: both dispersing the built up heat and gases, as well as cleaning the brake pads
they're angled slots and are therefore rotation specific
Also, I'm pretty sure they're machined and not cast ... not sure actually
As for the dimples, they 'could' be there to allow gases to enter under heavy load, and maintain the full braking pressure, until you back off (should the slots not be good enough) ...

EBC do their discs in curved grooved with dimpled holes too.
Here's the spiel from their site.
ADVANTAGES
· "Blind" degassing holes reduce chance of stress cracks, common with "cross drilling".
· Full sweep wider scraper grooves help deglaze pads, reduce fade and promote parallel pad wear during use.
· Grooves extended to outer diameter allow exit of dust, grit etc. from the braking area (grooves that stop short only capture dust and grit and cause disc marking)
· Zinc plate and gold passive finish improves cosmetic appearance beneath alloys and prevents corrosion on areas not swept by the pad
Their part # GD695 @ $235 + gst

Greater pad bite increases brake torque.
Less surface area increases heat input.
They will pull up quicker but you need to be careful warming them up and cooling down if you push them hard.
Don't use a hard aggressive pad on them. Try a Pagid or Ferodo for best performance. Euro pads work best on Euro rotors.
Brembo are a good product.

Yeah im fully aware of this...the problem is the that the "buddy" that works at beaure... and big bob j... repco and every where else has no frikin idea that brembo make these products let alone are able to supply them. Can you suggest a contact in Qld? My next option is to try and source them through BMW.

No-one locally will be able to source the rotors you speak of.
They don't import them because no-one has asked for them in quantity.
Your BMW dealer won't be able to get Nissan rotors.
You said you could source them offshore. Do it. Get 2 sets and sell a set to someone else to help offset your costs.
Good luck.
oh yeah try here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2401228545&category=33564
