View Full Version : spongy pedal
i upgraded disks and calipers on my ca18det to sr20det ones and after bleeding the system a few times the first stab of thepedal is to the floor and then the next its good and stops.... wat could the prob be. do i need to bleed more or is it something else
Either it is not bled properly (believe me, no matter how much time you spent bleeding it it still might not be right) or the master cylinder is on it's way out.
I have seen (quite a few times recently) cases where people have opened up a braking system which was functioning acceptably (say to bleed it or flush it or put bigger brakes on etc etc) and have the master shit itself immediately afterwards. I don't know what causes it to happen, but is seems to be a real problem.
cheers

pssttttt........are the calipers on the right side of the car with the bleeders facing UP ??
don't laugh I've seen trained mechanics do it

the problem is with and old brake system u get alot of build up over time of residue.......this stuff helps prevent any leaks and helps maintain pressure on the master cylinder.......
now after u bleed the system u clear all that away.......increasing the weakness of what was a minor problem. hence seals and things of that sort give way and u get bad pedal response there after.
