View Full Version : RB20 turbo manifold
I'm fitting an RB20 to an EH, i've managed to get the engine in but the compressor housing fouls on the chassis rail by a little bit.
I figure I can...
A. Get a high mount manifold
Can someone tell give me an idea what a high mount manifold would cost?
B. Do something else....
Anyone got any suggestions?
I probably only need the turbo mounted about an inch higher to give some decent clearance and I dont want to cut the chassis rail.
Cheers, Tim

any chances of fitting some sort of spacer under your engine mounts? lift it abit higher or mabye put a spacer on the side its fouling to give the engine abit more tilt.
high mount manifold will probably end up costing 800-1000 for a good one.
The mounts i have arnt really all that suitable for fitting a spacer under, no section of the mount joins in a horizontal plane if you know what I mean. Also, the more the engine slants over to the turbo side, the less problems I will have getting the alternator to fit.
I was wondering if it would be feasible to make up some sort of angled adaptor (like a 45deg wedge) to swing the turbo out a little and give me some clearance.

I fitted a t04 turbo and external gate to the standard manifld by welding a block to it. Because of the size of the turbo this had to be made in a v shape and works well for me, so it should do the job for you. It made 235rwkw so it still must flow good enough and costs a lot less then a new manifold. However you will need it to be welded bu a specialist as they need to be heated up before being welded and cooled slowly i believe, they also macined the face flat as they can warp slightly, cost me 200 for the welding.
