Hey all im new to this forum

My 2.0L Astron is gonna be due for a rebuild soon so i was thinking about getting a 2.6 Astron and put a Sigma Turbo setup on it.

But what i need to know is can a Stock 2.6 Handle a Turbo and if so with how much boost.

would carby be very reliable coz ittl have to do till i can eventually afford to get EFI and will a 5spd fit into the auto tunnel with out having to change the tail shaft or anything??

Coz mine is a slug box 3spd at the moment :D

Stock 2.6 has a lower compression ratio than the 2L.. should go alright with low boost (like <8psi).. would go better if you can lower the compression a bit further.

The sigma turbo setup is carby fed anyway..

There are a few different gearboxes - the 2L box won't bolt to the 2.6 block. The 2.6 is bigger. AFAIK, all the tunnels are the same size regardless of manual/auto so yes it will fit. I have the jap 2.6L 5 speed box in a GH (the biggest box).. fits no worries - no tailshaft mods.

I know what the old 2.0L Factory sigma turbos go like coz i took one for a test drive not long ago and i was in total shock with how much guts it had in it.

It actually pinned me to the seat harder than my mates stock 308VH SL/E

It was running 8PSI boost and a 3" zorst and thats it so i can just imagine what a descent 2.6 with turbo would do in my GH http://forums.off-topic.net/images/smilies/naughty.gif :D LOL

I cant wait to get started on it :)

GK had the Jap box???? That's what I thought anyway. My GJ had the crappy Borg Warner. Spat second gear twice.

GH-GJ had the borg warner

GE-GK-GN ran the jap-spec box

evil-sigma: have fun with the project!

a stock sigma turbo only has like 116kw at the flywheel running 18's down the 1/4 :(
That aint 2 kwik 4 a turbo, but front mount, mild boost adjustment, exhaust should knock off a bit of time and unleash sum power!

I've spoken to many people with turbo astron motors whether they be efi carb 2.6/2ltr overall my advise to you would be

1. Use a stock bottom end, keep balance shafts, just give her a GOOD rebuild to mitsubishi specs.

2. If your going efi, use a rebuilt magna head, with magne efi intake manifold...galantman of these forums would be able to tell you a thing or two about that.

OR if you wanna stay with carb, just reuild the standard head.
and try to find a carb turbo setup(good luck ive been looking for ages!)

As for the jap/bw 5 spd debate.....

I had a bw behind my old 2ltr, although it was a bitch to drive...shifted crap it never let me down....hell ive pulled 2nd at near 100ks a few times...wereas my jap box although has a much slicker shift when i try for second in a hurry it just hold shifter in second but im in nuetral, and thrid gear is shagged...though 1st-2nd can be changed ultra quick.
