View Full Version : sr20de --> N13 Pulsar Q
I'm considering taking the 1.8 out of my n13 pulsar and putting in an SR20DE, would this be a worthwhile conversion (cost-wise)... and how easy would it be?

you can buy Q's with an SR20DE can't you - pretty rare but i could have sworn someone on the forums bought one recently.
this is just my humble opinion but if you're going to bother with an engine swap, why not an SR20DET? unless you're worried about insurance problems it'd have a hell of a lot more potential.

yeah you can buy N14's that are SR20DE, not N13's. I just want something that's reasonably quick, not really worried about potential for more power at the moment. although if it wasn't for the insurance problem's i'd definitely be putting in a ca18det or sr20det. :(

Very worthwhile mate.......pop on over to www.pulsar.org.au, join up for the forums and ask away. I'm pretty sure someone has done it that is part of the group :D

ah fair enough then...if insurance is a problem then sure, go for the sr20de definitely.

CA18DET's go straight in pretty much, but if insurance is a concern - the NA SR is still a worthy upgrade from the sleepy GM 18LE engine. I remember when I blew two holes in the crankcase, and one in the block on my old stock 18LE... LOL.
Brad.
I personally doubt you can do it for less than it'd cost to sell the N13 & just buy an N14, though; espeially after you tally up resale, insurance, etc.

Mate if your interested, im just about to take the sr20de out of my s13 and put an rb20det engine in it. The odometer reads 75 000 but you can never be sure with imports. It's been in the country two years. I can give you everything including crossmember if you need it. Actually, does the n13 engine go from east to west or is it like the s13?? That could be a problem.

yeah i realize selling it and buying an n14 would be easier and cheaper but I just want something different, kinda like a little sleeper. i mean the average vl/vn driver doesnt expect to be chopped by an n13 :D

Yeah N13's are FWD, S13's are RWD :(
it'll be way more hassle than it's worth mate.. and the n14 sr20de gearboxes are worth at least $700
yeah ur right the motor goes the wrong way. plus the motors have the plenum entrance/throttle body on opposite ends.
