I bought 2 12" Type R's, 2 ohm. They are in a sealed box, 300mmX300mmX300mm is the dimensions for each. The bass doesn't sound very clean or responsive. The box by the way is in the back of a Ford Fairmont wagon which probably doesn't help.
Is it the size of the box, or the car that sounds bad, or is it something else?
If its the box, what size should i make another one?
Thanks for any help.
Have a surf around for sub enclosures. You should be able to find a formula for the right size box. If u have the specs for the Type-R, put them into the formula and it should tell you how many litres the box should be for your sub. Than u can figure out measurements. Length x Width x Depth = Volume Simple!

30x30x30 is just under a cubic foot, which is rather small for 12" sub. Find out what the recommneded enclosure size for your sub is. Something more like 1.5+cu ft would be more like it.

The spec sheet recomends between 0.7 - 1.0 cubic feet as the best sealed enclosure size. The box I am using is in there. Would using some of that sound deadening stuff on the inside do anything?

Alpine subs like small enclosures. I have 2x Type S DVC 12's in a 1.1 cubiv foot box each. You need to feed em a shite load of power, which l;eads me to the question of how much power you have running to them and how are they wired on what amp?

The amp im running is an Alpine class D, 600WRMS mono block. To the best of my knowledge its wired up right. Could it be the settings making it sound funny? Low pass filters etc?
