I have had a long term problem with the rear brakes on my car. The rear bakes don't seem to be engaging when I depress the brake pedal, only the fronts. The brake pedal is also spongy. I have bled the brakes a number of times, reco'd the master cylinder, changed the brake booster (2nd hand), changed one complete brake + strut, and still haven't been able to work out what the problem is.

Anyone?

TIA.

I would say look brake Bias Valve or similar

Family's 626 station Wagon has a Soleniod one.

Everything was fine we thought the brakes from factroy always felt very sensivtive, we never used rear pads first change was 80,000km's ? Only when it leaked did we have to get a new one at cost from Mazda took 1 month for the part.

Don't know if Starion's have one?

Yes, I have narrowed it down to the the brake bias and also the rear brake hoses ballooning under pressure. Rear calipers may also need a rebuild.

The rear calipers in these are known for siezing up along with the handbrake setup which holds the pads on the disk and wears the pads and cooks everything.I have a sapporro which has the same brakes and they kept wearing pads out until i rebuilt them.
