Hey all, ive always wondered if this type of 'mod' would lead to better braking.

Above is a DBA slotted rotor. The rotor turns clockwise as the car goes forward, and slices the pad from the bottom to top (see the slot closest to the brake pad closest to the caliper).

If you were to change from L -> R and R-> L on each side, effectively you would have the same clockwise movment, but the slot will be cutting from top to bottom. (visualise the above picture with the rotor moving anticlockwise, to get the reletive movement after the swapping of the rotors).

Would this offer any sort of braking performance or a better cutting of the pad?

Any good/bad in doing such a mod?

Thanks

You will get alittle more bite
Faster pad wear
The accummulation or dust and roadshit that gathers in the slots will be forced inwards to the centre of the disc bell and may not get out. If this gets trapped under the pad you will get greater wear and noise.

Many racecars run the slots the opposite was for increased bite as they don't have to worry about wear and noise.
However on certain vehicles (not this commodore) its important to make sure the directional vanes in the disc are pointed in the correct direction regardless of the disc slotting design.

Best upgrade you can do with the existing setup is to recondition the 20 yr old caliper so it works more efficiently and fit some new (better) pads.
