my discs are rusty and need a machine, as the headding sugests is there a problem with this?

you'll have a bugger of a time maintaining parallelism between the two faces. Best leave it to a pro with a double-tip cutter that can do both faces simultaneously. It's only like $15 per rotor...

It is possible but you will need a round nose tool to get a good finish. Plus a machine shop would charge you a lot more than $15 to do it.

If you can machine them within 0.01mm of parallelism then go for it.
0.02mm = brake shudder
0.035mm = is bad vibration
0.05mm will shake your pants off.

Thats why brake lathes have twin tools.
