Before I start, if this is suppose to be in Tech section please move!! Posted it here as I relates to bikes and tech sections is generally car talk.

Now....I replaced the clutch plates on a 1995 Yamaha DT 175 over the weekend. The problem is that the clutch cable has been adjusted to the max level (ie as far as the adjustment screw will go) and the clutch still does not engage. Also, the clutch handle does not come back to the engaged position on its own.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Oh I only put the bike back together as someone else pulled it apart and I don't know if all the bits are where they should be as I know sweet fa about bikes.

On a side note, the thing had 7 clutch plates!!

Cheers for any assistance.

Haven't done a dt clutch, but I imagine they're similar to wr200's...

did you set the clutch actuator arm after reassembling everything? There's a specific point there you need to set it to. Have to undo a circlip and spin the thing around until it's right.
