Drum brake setup question

Doing a hilux rear disk conversion. The setup will be simple if i can turn the backing plate about 45º clockwise- but then the hand brake pads will not be vertical.

I dont like this idea because the spring inside will streach faster and eventually the pad will rest on the drum.

Has any1 seen any drum brakes or drum handbrakes that dont run straight up and down?

I converted my Hilux rear end to disc brake a year or so ago. I used MA70 backing plates. The internal drum handbrake does not sit "up and down", but at an angle (maybe 30 degrees off vertical). I have had no issues.
The springs are all anchored at the same mounting points so they shouldn't "stretch" any more than they ordinarily would.
