Ok.. the lotto ticket came up, or you discovered that your long held suspicion that you were God was actually true, or your favorite car company sent the wrong set of keys out.

If you had the chance, what would be your dream drive? Which car would you take on what track. No limits. This was partly inspired by the Shanghai circuit thread which made me think I'd really like to see the Mazda 787B LeMans car lapping around there.

Pikes Peak - r34 Vspec GTR or Group B Audi Quattro from "the good old days ;) )
Monaco - Group C rx7 (just for the sound in the tunnel and off the buildings...)
Shanghai - Mazda 787b.... damn it would be fast!

Other people?

Nurburgring with BMW Group A DTM E30 M3 would keep a smile on my face for a while. :)

Spa-Francorchamps in any current F1 car.....even a Minardi would do.

Monaco or Adelaide in any race car. Preferably a single seater but i wont complain if it's a v8 supertaxi or something.

As a matter of fact to be honest i even had a huge smile on my face thrashing a L300 van through the Adelaide hills :) and broke a engine mount doing it..

1976 Mazda 808, Huntley Hill-climb... No, wait, I already did that...

I'd go for either a 787B, or one of the late model Kudzu rotary powered racers, at pretty well anywhere.

Though a genuine, in-the-day, RX-3 Japanese touring car would be cool.

Stupidly enough, the track that would be the "best" for learning the car would be the track you already knew - so Wakefield Park for me... Which would be a supreme waste of an awesome opportunity... :)

What he said :) A F1 car may be a tiny bit too quick :p so maybe a F3000.

From watching the NSW state round last weekend, a GT3 Cup round E.C (especially turn one) would be hard to beat...

Too easy to beat. If staying local, the GT3 around Bathurst.
EC is good, but not great. I'm praying for a Historic race at bathurst for something other than Nc cars one day....

what are the chances the historics at Bathurst get worthy air time this year ? Driving a historic spec 69 Camaro would be nice... or the original model with the alloy big block that got banned back "in the day".

How about Jesus Padilla's rx7,(9sec all motor, 2 rotor).... at a Willowbank 4&rotor Jamboree, just to show up the turbo boys how its done :D

A GrpA spec Sierra RS500 Cossie, around Mt. Panorama, in qualifying trim, running 40+psi :)

Good question...would have to think about this.
I'd have to say an F1 car at any one of the technical circuits like Suzuka... Spa as well...

Porsche 962 around nurburgring
Maclaren Mercedes F1 around melbourne

Peugeot 405 Pikes Peak (Basically ran the old Grp B gear) on Pikes Peak if I for some reason thought I had skill and BIG balls.

Otherwise a current World Rally Car up pikes peak since it wouldn't be as frightening (well the course would still scare the crap out of me but the car wouldn't be trying to kill me at every turn).

Ferrari F1 around Monaco or Spa or...

Satoshi Motoyama's Nismo JGTC GT500 350Z/Fairlaidy around Bathurst

Bill, you'd want to be careful that your head didn't get sucked into the motor judging buy that pic :)

Ferrari 288 GTO around the 'ring, spa or through a nice alpine pass somewhere.

Wouldnt be the fastest thing, but just the idea of playing with the GTO through corners just as it comes on boost and feel it squirming beneath you would be trouser tightening stuff, while at the same time you would be fearing for your life. Then there is the sound of the twin turbo V8 urging you on to give it some more stick.

That would be bliss.

360 Stradale (loudest flame-spitting exhaust possible, windows down) - Stelvio Pass
250TR - Goodwood (taking it a bit easy to take everything in, but quick enough to make a bit of noise, wake the crowd up and enjoy it all)
917K - Le Mans (240mph on Mulsanne with no crash protection should get the heart going)
Caterham R500 - 'Ring (because overtaking GSXR1000's would be fun :D)

Hmm, tough call...

If we're talking classic open-wheeler, I'm thinking Repco-Brabham around old Nurburgring.
If we're talking modern open-wheeler, any current F1 car at Monza or Spa.

If we're talking historic rally-car, Lancia Stratos at Monte (in the Historic section).
If we're talking modern rally-car, FocusWRC or Peugeot206WRC in Sweden.

If we're talking Australian historic circuit tin-top, Torana XU-1 around Bathurst.
If we're talking Australian modern tin-top, probably a V8BRUte around somewhere testing like Clipsal...

God, really, there's too many to choose from

Can I say a Peugeot 905 or a Mazda 787B at Le Mans?

A JPS BMW 635CSI around Bathurst - or maybe a Walkinshaw Jag. And also Moffat's RX-7. :)

On dirt... hmm... Rod Millen's 4wd 1st generation RX-7 in Perth. And a Pug 205 T16 in, I dunno, Perth too.

I would be very, very, scared in all of the above.

Almost any car that used the term "qualifying boost" in the eighties would be worth a punt.

Porsche 935 1979 (?) Le Mans winner... at Le Mans. The orange-ish Jagermiester car...

Actually, now that Saru mentions it, I've always had a hankering to have a run at Le Mans, in the 24Hr race, too. So something cool (Mazda 787B, McLaren F1GTR, Panoz?, Audi, something) around that track

Satoshi Motoyama's Nismo JGTC GT500 350Z/Fairlaidy around Bathurst

That would do me too, a car that you could push hard around the best/scariest circuit in the world. Bliss
