I want to make some dog bone brackets for some R32 GTR calipers, does anybody know what steel (billet?) they have to be made of?
I know i have to use grade 12 cap screw bolts, that the dog bone adaptors have to be helicoiled and they have to be entirely one piece with no welds.
Im thinking of milling them to shape etc.
Thanks,

Is this to go onto a commodore ?
If so just buy them from Comsport
Cheaper in the long run and a damn sight easier.

...they have to be entirely one piece with no welds.
Can someone confirm whether this is true 'all round', or dependant upon what state you're in,... and/or the engineer involved ??
Even if it isn't true, it's sound practice, brakes aren't something to be bodged.

Yes a VL, i dont like the commsport ones, they are also two pieces welded together. Id rather make ones in the fashion that Holden does with the HSV brakes, Im going to use the HSV 330mm VN rotors to bypass the floating hub adaptors too.
Also can anybody confirm the rumor that a vt master cyl will bolt onto a VS booster?

A VT master will bolt to a VS booster once you shorten the front pushrod that sits up the master cylinder bum by 10mm.
I didn't realise the Comsports were welded.......steer away from them then and make your own.
I can't advise what grade of steel (I'm no metalurgist) but by the sounds of what your doing its going to be thick and chunky. I'd go with something of reasonable grade thats easy to mill.

Ahhh good stuff, we use this guy in Sydney to rebuild boosters for us and if im not mistaken the vs booster in the utes looks exactly the same as the vl double diaphram unit so if the vs front will fit onto a vl booster then instant vt master cyl conversion ;)

I work in the heavy vehicle brake trade and i know an enginering shop who is willing to draw them in cad then cnc machine them into existance, ive seen some totally terrible looking adaptors in my time, i basically want it to look good and be safe.
Datto man, do you sell the vt ball to vl flare adaptors? for the brake lines?

Oh does anybody know what sized master the R32 GTR ran, was it 1 1/4?

NO
VS booster is single diaphragm and made of plastic.
Its nothing like the earlier ones.
Don't even try it cause it won't work.
No I don't sell the brass adapters......but racebrakes should
R32 master was 1"
32 GTR calipers suit a 296mm disc......be careful about how your pad radius sits and how much of the strength of the caliper you have to take out of the bridge to fit the 330mm disc.

I looked at a series 3 vs commodore ute and it had a steel double diaphram booster exactly the same as a vlturbo double diapham, could it be the utes used this booster? I was lead to belive that the vs used plastic units but this one was 100% steel.
Also yeah the radius of the brakes, thats a good point. We might just stick them on vt discs then, do you know what the thickness of a skyline vs VT disc is?
Thanks heaps for everybodies advice so far ;)

Vt=28mm
Skyline=30mm
dattoman gave me the reference I used on my site at the links he gave.

Thanks Jimbo & Dattoman, the vt booster looks like a good proposition..
Is the vt booster a double diaphram or available as one in the v8 model and made of plastic or steel? Its going onto a fairly powerfull vl turbo...

steel shell
double diaphragm
more powerful than any previous models
and thanks again jimbo for the links
