If you have a rx7 with a rotary engine (every RX has one, unless the owner put smething else in it), I could probably help you figure out any problems you migh thave. These engines are prone to breaking down, and most of the time it is something simple. SO shoot me a question and I'll do my best to answer it.

What type of Camshaft do recomend for a 20btt ?
I like the internet too.
I think you'll find the way forums like this work is.
1) We ask questions
2) someone with knowledge (or an opinion) on said question offers some advice
cheers,

What are you talking about Tripper. I own a rotary shop, im not an idiot haha.
We are rebuilding a rotor half way.. back apex blew.. so we pulled it down half way (left front rotor intact) and we are going to recycle everything. except for the blown apex seal. :) and the outer oil and coolant o-rings.
How many revolutions will the engine turn before we have to repeat the process? :D

Lots of people needing help there :) While it's very kind of you to offer your services, there's only a few rotary people on this forum, so not many people if any bother posting rotary tech q'ns here.

if a rotary spins clockwise in the southern hemisphere
will it spin anti clockwise in the northern hemisphere?

That's almost as paradox-ical as the outcome of two GTR's racing.

Why aren't you replacing the housing too. Usually they get messed up and scored when the apex seal goes, then they are useless. You should replace the front seals too, because it might be a long time before the engine comes out again and you may as well rebuild it so you have a fresh engine. Not quite sure what you mean by number of revolutions before you have to repeat the process.

Its like he thinks we don't know stuff so has dumbed it down for us
How much nos can my series 6 take before I blow the welds on the intake?

I've met some really dumb people in my time, people who have done crap that makes me wonder if there is any hope for mankind, like one guy who actually asked me "why the hell are the spark plugs only one one side of the engine?" and "This engine must have a flat 4 or something". I am just always on "dumb it down" mode, I forget that people know crap sometimes, sorry.
did you forget we're not americans?

2. "13B, 12A, aka rx7 POWERPLANT."thanks for filling us in. :)
3. These engines are prone to breaking downDefinitely sounds like you know your stuff. :rotflol:
4. In the "Can you have too much cooling" thread. But yes, running an engine too cold is bad for it.
I'd be VERY worried about sending my RX7 to a (especially) rotary workshop who's owner doesn't think running an engine too cold will do any damage.
5. Interesting bio you've got there.
Biography:
I like RX-7 and cars, go figure
Interests:
Cars, bikes, school
Occupation:
Pizza boy
Must be very busy, running a rotor workshop, delivering pizza AND finding time for school.
Little bit of advice.
- If you lie, best to remember what you've said before. Nice one, bruvva.
Sounds to me like another case of Fast & Furious syndrome.
- You're not going to be chopped down for not knowing everything (a forum is based on people not knowing something, and asking questions). You will be chopped down for acting like a tool and trying to impress everyone.

oops. At leased I have the humility to come back. I don't own a rotary shop, I work at one (Got a bit cocky on my part, forgot to change my profile, got the job last week), number 3 - you would be amazed how many people here do not know anything about rotaries, even on the other rotary forum I'm also on. For the #4 you have - I was laughing at the fact that he said that because it is so painfully true, I didn't say that running an engine cold is good for it, thats why if you warm up your car it is better for the moter. I am also taking a light course load at university that allows me to work at the rotary shop. I never claimed to know everything, I said I would give it my best shot. I do look really young due to my size, it has caused problems in the past. Also I think you guys have different terms and stuff than us in North America. It also amazes me that you would go to such lengths to bring some one down, good on ya mate.

i second that nomination for teh pool room. (dammit i thought i'd be first :D) i also think that the best obtainable engine thread is almost worthy, esp seeing as teh pool room is empty ATM (or is it available if i look in the archives)

C_murder your car turbo or NA. What are the species how much power??
C-Murder
25-10-04, 04:17 AM
My car as it is, is a pile of junk. Its an NA 87, so 146hp stock and 138foot/pound(not sure what the metric equivilant is). And that is new. I'm sure I'm probably around 110-120hp to the wheels because I have an old engine. I love it though and I'm never going to sell it. Down the road when I find a good deal I am going to get a Turbo II and upgrade it. We have to conform to emmision standards up here so I can only get so many horsepower and still be able to insure my car.
will you be switching to a lumpier cam in the engine to increase power? or just using a bigger turbo and NOS?
its just that i know modified cams can affect how a car idles.
are you going to drift it?
