first of all what side of town are you on ?
I thought you were after weed for a second there ;)
Weed? What's weed? :rotflol:
Anywhere in the general Brisbane area would have been fine. I'm located Southside but have the full day to go looking.
Ah well, going now so I'll just go where I know...
Shogun Honda is pretty alright for gear, if you want a good price you might want to know how to beat them back a bit
Be prepared to pay for all of it though I see around $1000 in jacket, draggins, boots & gloves although this being said $1000 ticket price probably = $800 or less if you buy it all together
Welp, just got back.. went to a few places and it was like I was invisible. Then went to Morooka Yamaha and I had salespeople all over me!
Told them to go away at first, just wanted to have a look around... eventually a young guy came back and asked if I was still ok (damn was hoping it'd be the young chick again).
I wanted to get away with around $1000 for jacket, pants and gloves and maybe scrape in some boots as well. After a bit of a look, the RJAYS products seemed like they were cheaper for a reason - wasn't overly impressed with them. The jacket I fancied before the day was an AGV Sport one (unsure of model) but it wasn't that comfortable so I decided against it.
After much trial and error I talked myself into an Alpinestars TZ1 jacket which is absolutely tops - really comfortable and seems to have quality where the others just seemed to have a checklist of important things and threw them all together.
Gloves-wise I wanted good sturdy finger protection but something that didn't negate all feel for the bike. Decided Alpinestars GP Plus gloves as they fit the bill.
Got a pair of Draggin Jeans Sport pants- was a little disappointed with the quality of the stitching but all reports have been fairly good so I assume it's just polish/cosmetics that suffer. Bahaimus tested his out and gives the thumbs up... so being a lighter rider I am pretty happy with them for general road use. I probably wouldn't feel comfortable in them for anything particularly enthusiastic.
Total cost? $1150... about $130 off the ticket prices. Gave me about $100 off when I ummed and ahhed... then I asked them to round it down to the nearest $50 for me. I reckon I could have gotten them down to a round $1100 but didn't have the energy :)

Thats where I got all my moto x stuff from - did the same sorta deal and were really helpful.
I own a pair of draggins and I wont use them for anything else besides around town riding. I havent come off and the stitching around my ankles is already coming loose :(

All of my riding is around town. When I stacked at about 60km/h they held up ok. Although I didn't slide in them, I rolled. There is a mark on the knee where the outer (denim?) fabric has worn through a bit, but the kevlar inner is intact. I had a small friction burn about the size of a 10 cent piece on my knee. That was the only mark on my body.
If I was going to indulge in some more spirited riding I'd get a pair of leather pants. But coming into summer, that's not a particularly appealing thought.
Sounds good Leigh. So you didn't get boots?
Didn't get boots... I have an old pair of docs that will suffice in the mean time, at least with the extra length they're the kinda thing that will stay on my foot in an off. Main thing that's a pain is no shift pad on the toe... might stick something on the inside :P

Next time I need some gear though I'll give you a yell. Will be in the market for a better helmet and probably some boots, so I'll let you know! Must say though there *was* a young chick working at the Yamaha dealer for whom I could have handled having an excuse to talk to :D
