not a bad time for a lil 250F. I've always wondered what time my KTM 200 would have done. on the road i reckon it would have hit 100kmph in around 5 seconds, but anything above that it struggles. my guess is with proper gearing, altering some suspension settings, and some fat rubber on the back, high 13's should be achieveable. A 200 2 stroke should have the 250F's measure. Did you do any suspension mods?

the cars guide are doing some work to a DR650 and they are at about 14.0 ATM with a staintune pipe and re-jet, but they are big slow bikes.

Be sure to post when you get the CR to the strip, i'd like to know what it could run. A mate reckons his future KTM 576 will run high 11's

Yeah I went out not long after I got my bike, I couldn't launch for shit and I'm not exactly the skinniest rider around, but I managed 11.209@129.xx mph (2.08 sec 60ft). I don't have any pics or video of the trips out there, but I have timecards on my web site (http://members.optushome.com.au/turbo202).

My brother ran 11.0@126 on his 2003 R6, 1.9 sec 60' time. Bastard :D

If I had a drag strip within a short distance I would probably give it a go.

wouldn't mind running my rm250 down think i'd hit max speed 1/4 way down, need different gearing, wouldn't mind knowing what a motocross bike can do the 0-100 in

Marc - about time you went out again.

I will be taking the GPX at some stage, if I haven't killed it :(

Yeah I'll be in that, assuming I have the spare cash. Things are VERY tight at the moment, I hate it when people (govt departments!!!) take ages to pay me for work I did ages ago. Daniel should be getting his R6 back in a week or two. He'd no doubt be keen for a run at the drags too, if he doesn't stack it before then :p

Thatís awesome! Iíd love to take my bike to the track!
Iíve got a 1997 Yamaha WR250 Ė only road worth component on it now is the front headlight so itís now basically a YZ except higher gearing and smaller rear wheel.

It has boysen reeds and who knows what the jettings like (keeps doing plugs :P), but itís faster than my mates 1997 YZ250 and he is a fair bit lighter than me. If you say a 2 stroke 200 would match those times, would you assume that a 2 stroke 250 would be quicker? (Rider weight and skill aside)

Yep 2 stroke 250 will be faster than the 4 stroker , unless its a 1930 model bike :)

a guy from r1-forum.com ran his 2004 R1 at calder park on friday night in 35c weather and ran a 9.996 @ 147.29mph :worship: no info on mods but seen some photos and it looks to have the stock pipes

I've run my stock '02 ZX6R down the strip up here in Townsville and best I've managed is a 11.357 at over 120MPh. Shithouse launch 'cause the strip is a bit of a joke. Absolutely no traction. How do you guys go down south? Far less traction than a real road? I had a set of Pirelli Dragon SuperCorsa's (SC2 compund so they are like black marshmallow!) and a bigger rear sprocket fitted yesterday. Should be interesting. the tyres give way more traction on the street to I'm hopeful for some runs in the 10's next time I'm out.

Took my 99 rm 250 out to willowbank on sat night ran a 15.4 with stock 12/52 gearing top speed of 120kph, going back out in a fourtnight, will have to try and get smaller sproket for rear so i can get my top speed up a bit

Havent been out with it in a loooooong time, it's actually gathering dust as we speak :(. 10.27@139.76 (http://madhatter.idx.com.au/slip.jpg), ZX9-R, factory pro kit with +4 ignition advance, akrapovic system, standard front sprocket, +3 rear with the 530 chain. Ran 10.8's the first few runs until managed to hook up in the 3rd pass. The lack of speed (considering half track elapsed figures and trap speed) in the bottom half indicates a real problem with gearing. The older bikes are geared a little closer together which makes them good for strip work, but there is a real problem with the 4th>5th change. Never really took it any futher as it was more for a bit of fun than a serious attempt at getting times down. Ill see if i can upload some pics to photobucket and repost :)

Funny that this thread has just been dug up - I actually took my bike to the drags Wednesday of last week.

Consistent 2.1 second 60ft, consistent 12.1s and consistent 117mph. If I could get the bastard off the line I'd be easily into the 11's. I think it has something to do with my 130 rear tyre struggling to decide between wheelstands and wheelspin!

I've seen a stock (or at least nearly stock) TTR250 do ultra low 17s at Eastern Creek a million years ago. I thought that was pretty good, seeing as they feel so damn slow to ride...
Plenty of cars out there that would get beaten by a flat 17, and a TTR isn't exactly a performance bike!

On a side note... my 130 rear tyre problem could well be solved, fingers crossed! I will post up here with the results of some more adventurous launches if it goes ahead :)

Which one? :P

My GPX250 is dead and buried... the GPX600 is dead and buried too (sold it, guy crashed it the next night)... the bike I'm playing with now is a GPZ900 :)

Used to drag my TLR, but I now either get wheel spin or wheel-up on the runs (and thats with sticky Pilot Powers). Due to the 196kg weight and 125rwhp, 11.1 sec @ 128mph is the best she'll do.

However, I've just finished building a turboed CBR1000F drag bike. I'm aiming for the mid 8s / high 8s.

Guys - any idea what a CBR 250 would run? I want to get an idea of how fast I'm actually (or not) going.

Nucci

I would say a high 14 sec 1/4 mile for a CBR250

Oh and 13.2 @ 87 mph 2nd wheelie :P (but since then back beaten that with a 3rd gear standup wheelie that resulted in a 12.65)

Love how the right foot is covering the rear brake :)

Nice pics!

Boostboy, turbo CBR pics coming (sometime soon). Never ending work on the cosmetics at the moment. A few weeks ago, it looked like it was on the operating table: wires hanging everywhere and all hoooked up to a PC, with plastics off and no paint job yet :( Been too ashamed to take pics.

davemw, I'm yet to see a babyblade get out of the 16sec bracket. Probably the shitty riders here in Adelaide, but from what I've seen 14sec is optimistic.

Taking the turboed CBR drag bike to a Haltech specialist this week (as I'm good with mechanics, but I suck at electronics) and having a hard time sorting the fuelling. Will have it complete by the time I get back from the MotoGP and will then look at doing a few runs and selling it :( ... got a track bike coming :)
