Hey,
I was looking at some DBA rotors for the front of my sigma.
Looked at the 'Cross drilled and slotteds'. Look great but dont perform much better than the stocky DBA's i have now
The plain slotteds are cheaper and have improved braking.
I am running endix performax bads at the moment and stocky drums on the rear with good shoes.
Anyone had any good/bad experiences with any of these rotors? any advice?
Also the cross drilled and slotteds are only $320- a pair, but will be able to get cheaper if i look around and the slotted are cgeaper so maybe $280ish-
thanks
I was running the Cross drilled and slotted on my R31 Skyline with Bendix metals and never had any problems in about 30,000km.
Having said that though, I will be just getting DBA4000 series slotted next time I need rotors as they are said to perform better and are less prone to cracking (not that I had any such problems)
Just get the slotted the major hazard with cross drilled rotors is cracking from track work
I had DBA gold, cross drilled and slotted rotors on my ED XR6 with performax pads and then with metal kings. they both stopped very well with little or no fad even on tough mountain runs. the rotors did warp though which was disapointing.
I now have a 200SX and am looking at fitting DBA 4000 series rotors.

which are the '4000' series rotors?

What experience have people had with 4000 series rotors? I plan on fitting them to an S15 with RB74 pads (front).

Save your money and buy decent pads.
what pads would you recommend?

I use, praise and recommend DBA rotors, the quality and consistency is better than world-class. For outright improved braking performance, you should be looking to a) make sure your braking system is in good working order b) choose a pad compound appropriate for your usage cycle c) choose a rotor suitable for your usage cycle and suitable for the pads working heat range.
If you've got cheapy road-spec pads then changing your rotors to slotted and/or 4000 series isn't going to suddenly give you infinite stopping power. However if you're running DS3000 pads with discount chinese rotors then they *will* fail in fairly short order. My little project car has Formula Ferodo (TS2000) pads all round, with DBA 4040 front rotors and DBA slotted rears. That said, I'm tempted to change to the '5000 series' rotors now that they are available to suit a VT-onwards commodore front.
Summary - Buy the DBA slotted rotors.
go slotted only, and try places like www.brakedistributors.com (.au?) for pricing. Repco aren't too favourable for dba pricing.... go 4000 series if you are really hard on them (for a road car)
