Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has had trouble with VL Commodore rear calipers.

I went to put mine back on last night, and needed to push the piston back into the caliper....this proved VERY difficult, even with the bleed nipple and fluid line removed. The piston seemed very tight, and would not spin in place either. Eventually I had to "tap" it back in with a small hammer (larger one was on standby ;) )

My concern with this is....if I can't push the piston back, how will it return when on the car? Will the rear brakes get "stuck on" so to speak?

Any ideas?

Mark.

Should be easier to move than that, I can generally push back the PBR single piston rear calipers with the ball of my hand (leaves a big effing mark on my palm though), at worst I use a clamp or a BFO sized set of multigrips. How long have you got until your next race, probably worthwhile pulling the caliper off, popping the piston out and giving it a visual inspection and maybe putting a rebuild kit through it.

On a related note, was quickly doing a pad change on my VS wagon as I'm going on holidays tomorrow... so naturally something had to go wrong. Siezed lower slider on the right rear caliper... Its off at the brake shop getting rebuilt now, $55 later and its all good.

I thought it should have been easier also...... I actually rebuilt the calipers earlier this year, and they have not be used since. The pistons were not that difficult to push back when I built them......I better pull it apart by the sounds of it.

Thanks,

Mark.
