View Full Version : Sparks coming from rear brakes
On more than one occasion, a person following me on a night mountain run has informed me that there are sparks coming from my rear brakes under hard braking. DBA slotted rotors, unsure what pads, look like they were in the brakes when they came from Jap, they are red and have heaps of meat on them. I wasn't going totally bananas on the brakes, just giving them a decent shove.
should i worry?

Pads with a high metal content can do this and it is not uncommon with race pads. Ferodo DS3000 is a classic for this. BUT! I would suggest you either inspect the brakes yourself or get them checked by a mechanic if you are not sure. It could be a backing plate bottoming out on the disc or some form of interferance.
or I could be a WRC driver and just not know it.
then again, probably not.
thanks steve, i had a look in there and there doesnt seem to be anything that could be touching.
