View Full Version : Phillip Island and attendance during testing....
Has anyone tried going to Phillip Island during testing (any really but the MotoGP bikes are there atm) and actually getting in?
Do they allow viewing to the public?
Cheers
Depends on the type of testing Datzed. Whether its closed or open to public (oddly enough). And I don't know what type the current practise is. Its generally open.
I was there the day the new M1 went out with us at a track day.. and was punted off by a guy on a Gixxer thou :D
GSXR damage - maybe 5 grand
M1 damage - don't ask...
Team Manager's damage for letting his million dollar prototype on track with a bunch of gumbies - I suspect he still shudders when he sits down...
Im not sure now that its under fox ownership but it used to be that PI was not avaliable for practise. ie no private practise like Winton on a friday or calder on wednesday.
But you could hire the circuit privately (which I did a number of times). In this instance the guard at the gate has a list of people allowed in & thats it.
This may all be different now that the ownership is changed.
PI quite often has open practise days on Fridays (for bikes) before race meets. You just turn up - pays your money and get out there (you do need a racebike and race license).
Datzed is talking about the private testing for MotoGp/Supers they have down there.
Oh, I thought he was a car boy.
Answer my email vicko you bastard.
Nah, I dont want to be on the track, just walk in with a camera. Mainly for spectating. I dont want to head down there just to have to turn around as it sstricktly closed to public.
Oh, I think youd struggle to get in for zip, but the track is open to the public the thursday & friday before the GP...I expect the same for the WSC.
Actually I checked...its friday only & you need a ticket

Yeah thats cool, but I was refering to the MotoGP testing thats going on there at the moment.
But Cant wait for the Shannons historic meet on the 24th.
Jesus edo, read what the bloody guy is saying FFS.... ;)
He wants to know if its possible to watch the MotoGp testing.
I'd probably ring the curcuit, but that might be too easy....
I imagine it'd be press only for the motogp testing...
A hell of a lot of people would wanna go see the testing and I'm sure someone somewhere would have heard about it by now (plus they'd probably sell tickets)
Viewing *was* available apparently. Had a mate who made the trip down.
