My company (Flight Centre) is looking for another sysadmin to join our team, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining most web-based systems within the company worldwide. These are primarily J2EE apps running on Linux, however there are also .NET/Win2k apps, Perl/PHP/CGI sites, and some legacy systems on various Unix platforms.
We are after someone who has solid skills and experience in this area, and the ability to rapidly aquire new knowledge. We are understaffed at the moment, and need someone who can get up to speed very quickly. If you don't like hard work, need babysitting, can't work well in a team, or don't have a high technical ability this is definitely not the job for you.
Major responsibilities will be:
* Design, installation and general maintenance of highly-available web application servers
* Design of server clusters and appropriate network topologies
* Deployment of web applications
* Performance tuning in conjunction with developers/testers and DBA team
* Third-level user support
* Unix systems administration
* Administrative/utility scripting and/or programming
* Troubleshooting and problem diagnosis on all production systems
* Various miscellaneous technical tasks - a broad general knowledge of a wide variety of IT systems will be very highly regarded.
* 24/7 on-call support on a weekly rotation
Salary will be ~$50k + super, though somewhat negotiable depending on experience, with opportunities to earn bonuses dependent on task completion.
