Sup yall. Quick question. I am going to be buying a dirt bike very soon and was wondering about size/power. I am 27, 6'2" 240ish and somewhat of a newbie. I want something strong enough for my size, but it doesnt have to be a monster. Its only going to be a weekend thing, and Im probably not going to be needing an upgrade. Would a 250cc be big enough? Or should I go with 300+?

Thanks.

Yamaha YZ250F or Honda CR250F would do you just fine. They rip for a 4 stroke bike, and are much more predictable yet can run pretty much line ball with a 2 stroke 250...

By the way, this is an Australian based forum - just in case you weren't aware. But i'm sure they sell the same bikes over there !! :)

450s rock the world but realistically a WR/CRF250 will be plenty. I took one out last weekend in the mud and hosed guys on 450s in the slippery stuff. Might be a different thing come summer though. Either way a 250 will be heaps easier for a newbie.

MA is East coast yeah?

I've forgotten what the riding terrain is like on the different coasts, but your choice will purely depend on what sort of terrain you like to ride.

I also recomend the KTM450EXC if you want to ride a bit of everything. The 250 4 strokes are more suited to tighter terrain and smaller riders.

The 300cc bikes - KTM300, gas gas 300 are awesome machines as well, so decide if you would prefer a 2 stroke or 4 stroke and then the KTM 300/450EXC would be close to the top of the list

XR400.
Easily the easiest bike to ride of any of those mentioned, and yet you won't 'outgrow' it easily.
And will be able to lug around 100+kgs of you without drama.
