Managerial type preferred.

Have 15 years experience in transport industry including nationally accredited diplomas and numerous other management courses. Have experience in HR, OH&S quals to WorkCover standards, and currently have over 300 staff so no problem with being in a large working environment.

I'm getting sick of Sydney and will consider other types of work if interesting enough. Reasonable salary expected, but i'm realistic and realise i'll never make in Brisbane what i do down here...

Please PM or reply here if you have anything or know of something suitable.
P.S - I can appreciate the odd piss-take but try to be original ok ??

Cheers,
Paul...

The Australian has a great employment section for Au wide jobs.

A mate of mine did exactly what yuou are doing. He got his CV and Resume together, posted it to 4 or 5 companies in his industry and had a job a week later. Jobs are available for those that want them regadless of what people say.

Good luck.

Just move and find work then mate- otherwise you will be stuck there forever.

Getting out of Sydney is the best thing I have ever done, in every way except financially. And it doesn't take long to realise the financial stuff is a lose/lose deal.

Thanks Clayton - i want a job like yours where i can send emails all day... Errr, hang on, i've already got one like that... :D

Muz - Yeah, i hear you mate. The girlie is a hairdresser so she can get a job anyway, i'm just keen to have a look around at whats available for me... ;)

Dave - Thanks, i have a few mates who have moved up to Brissy so i might get them to start sending the employment sections down to me... :)

Simon - As above, but thanks for the offer mate... :)

I kind of mentioned my intentions to my boss this afternoon and he's dangled a bigger carrot in an attempt to make me feel like i can advance from where i am at the moment... Sad fact is i'm about 10 years younger than the next guy in my position so chances are i'll be waiting forever...

Some of my best thoughts occur when i'm pissed Simon so you might be onto something... :p

I spoke to a mate today who is with Pacific National up there and loving it - unfortunately they only have jobs driving trains at the moment but i'm even considering going back to driving - it's about 77k which suprised me and it's a lot less stress than trying to run the place...

Best thing about moving to brissy is that your car will get you very close to the front in an IP round!:)

Yell out if you need temporary digs while looking for work.

it's about 77k
That about the same as $100000 in Sydney I would think.

I would say it is the same as $100k, and a free house.

Shhh !! I was quietly thinking that myself... :)
There's a few Queensland cars that have travelled down here and their "slowish" lap times suprised me actually - i might go ok up there. I guess it's the old story, if you can't beat 'em find someone easier to beat... :p

And thanks for the offer mate, after Kangz i reckon i'd be a great tenant !! :D

Yeah, probably Dave... If i was chasing money i'd stay in Sydney so i guess i'm chasing lifestyle more than anything. When i sell up down here i can probably get something nice for the dollars and that's all i'm after really - a nice house and a better place to be in... ;)

100k, a free house, and not getting stabbed

Yeah, not getting stabbed is always a bonus !! :)

mate you could easily get a job within TransLink (New integration of transport services) ... probably walk straight into an a06 role - problem is, its only about $65k, but cost of living is substantially less...

Paul, I was going to say...if you don't mind heading overseas then give me a yell...both you an Clayton could walk in anytime. Only the salary keeps me sane on project work.

ps, if your open to move overseas in the next 12 months...Dubai is most likely my next destination should I take it. Mitsubishi and Kawasaki have been awarded the Dubai light rail contract.

I've been MIA, because we just hit 300km/h!!!

Don't tempt me Troy... The only worry would be working with you and Clayton... I reckon he'd lead me astray... That and the fact i'd have to take Sharon with me or risk having my nuts cut out... If i was single i'd be there in a heartbeat... :)

My boss has just tossed it in and leaves in 3 weeks, so it looks like i'll have my hands full here for a while. I'm still keeping an eye on jobs in Queensland though... I keep hearing on the grapevine that Clayton needs someone that can design a system that actually works ?? :p

pHaT-TuRBo - Awesome site, thanks mate !! I'll be keeping a close eye on that, there's a couple of great jobs i might even send my resume off for... ;)

Paul, I'm sure Sharon wouldn't mind a bit of globetrotting if you asked her.

But I get the feeling alot of work is happening in Aust, as alot of the expats I'm working with are showing a keen interest to work in Aust.

Definitely worth sticking it out in Aust till early 2006. Then if your keen let me know before end of Feb. There will be openings as most of us are up for contract re-negotiations.

Thanks Troy, just checked in again on this thread, had almost forgotten about it to be honest... :)

Work has thrown me a curve ball, i'm going to stick it out for another 6 months and see how we go - seems like some changes are on the cards that could well work in my favour... ;)

Maybe they been reading this thread :).

Don't forget to keep an eye out for me, I come off contract in another 2 months...Feb 2006.

Options are: get asked to stay on to commision the Depot "UNsafety" locking system, head to Dubai or news today Malaysia is a possibility...but if something turns up back home...that's where I'll be next.

Troy, please go to Dubai, and get their light rail up and running...right now their transport 'system' is a fucking nightmare shitfight , and its only going to get worse unless:
a. Someone gets their arse into gear and puts the LR together in record time
b. A bomb goes off

I prefer option a.

If in Dubai, let me know - and if we can line up our schedules the brewskies will be on me. Sorry, but apart from this, I have no useful input to this thread.

Kwottro, I would have thought they'd have one of the best rail transportation systems in the world. But your right they are in desperate need of a major metro upgrade.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4591013.stm

This is the project in Dubai...will be the longest driverless metro in the world.

If I make it over there, we'll definitely catch up.

Dubai Municipality signs Dhs12.45 billion Metro contract
29 May 2005

Dubai Municipality on Sunday 30 May 2005 signed a contract worth Dhs12.45 billion with Dubai Rapid Link (DURL), a consortium of four companies headed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan, to build a high-tech driverless rail transit system across the emirate.

The consortium, whose other members include the Japanese Obayashi, Kajima and Mitsubishi coporations and the Turkish, Yapi Merkezi, also won a Dhs1.88 billion contract to carry out maintenance of the project for 15 years.

The contract was signed on behalf of Dubai Municipality by Qassim Sultan, Director General, and on behalf of Mitsubishi by Susumu Ochida, Board Member, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, in the presence of members of the project’s Higher Committee, technical team, representatives of the consortium, and a large number of local and forieng media personnel.

Sultan said after signing the agreement he was grateful to their highnesses Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry and Chairman of Dubai Municipality, and General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence for their continued support to this ambitious project of the emirate.

He noted that the selection of DURL comes after a detailed, three-month long evaluation of both financial and technical offers submitted by the four internationally renowned consortia.

Sultan said the project would be constructed in two phases within a period of 55 months with phase one taking 49 months and phase two 35 months. “We will start phase two 20 months into phase one, finishing both in less than five years,” he noted.

Explaining the tendering and evaluation process, Nasser Ahmed Saeed, General Coordinator of the project, said tenders were floated on 1 August 2004 with the last date for accepting the technical and financial offers being 28 February 2005. Since then, the project’s technical team has done a thorough analysis of the offers.

“We found all the offers were acceptable from a technical point of view. The difference was that some consortia were better than their counterparts in certain aesthetic aspects. The technical team found that all consortia have the potentials and expertise to undertake the turnkey project. However, there was a substantial difference in terms of the rates quoted by the consortia. So, the selection was made less difficult ” he said.

The final rates, quoted by the four consortia, stood at Dhs12.45 billion (DURL), Dhs18.26 billion (Dubai Star), Dhs18.84 billion (Salsabeel) and Dhs19.29 billion (Metro One).
The Dubai Metro will have two lines with the Red Line running from Rashidiya Station to Jebel Ali Station and the Green Line running from the Dubai Airport Free Zone to Dubai Health Care City.

Following table describes some key features of the project that would be undertaken during the two phases of the project: ...details on their website.
