wish i could find the post on toymods - but its a simple equation: standard car weight multiplied by X = maximum capacity.
X varies whether you a NA or supercharged/turbocharged.
gut feeling says an early-model gemini would be too light.

IIRC in Queensland for cars under 1100kg it's..
2.5 x KG = CC force fed
3 x KG = CC NA
What's a gemi weigh, 900kg maybe? that's only a 2.7l NA motor max.
Might be able to get an engineer to pass it though, anything's possible with enough time/money
The emphasis was very little time and money or no go. :D Maybe a bluebird?
IE I have a shit 3.8 V6 engine, box, loom in the back yard that I want to use up since its not worth anything to sell, and I was looking to put it into an equaly shit car that might be amuseing to drive. I have heard of a 3.8 gem that done 12's with a relativley stock engine. I think it was in zoom or something.
Yeah it's not going to happen (at least not easily) in a sub-1100kg car. Maybe try shoehorning it into something a little heavier? There are options aplenty, but off the top of my head the RA60 Celica is about 1150kg and you can pick them up very cheaply these days. If you get a coupe version it's almost as ugly as a Gemini, so it's all win!
You can always shoehorn it into the nearest wheelie bin. I hear they fit straight in. Also fully legal and highly recommended by those with discerning tastes. :D
lol. Thats a good call, but my housemate has already got the pile of shit. Its actually in a old merc (the definition of blasphemy) The Merc has rusted away and the buick shit pile now needs a new home. I'm talking about just ramming it in a light car with the least possible amount of effort and as dodgyly as possible, as any great deal of effort would be wasted on a 3.8 V6. I won't be the one driving it so I don't really give a shit about the vibrating, mooing cow nature of the beast. I just reckon it would be an easy conversion to do. On the other hand PM me if anyone wants a VR motor and trans.
Surely plonking it in a similar but less rusty Merc would be the easiest conversion possible?
how much for the motor and trans?
Oh yeah the Toyota Corona Avante is 1135kg :) which knocks the capacity rules up a fair bit not sure on the exact multiplyers are though, anyone got them??

I like blingracers conversion into his vk..
they're not _that_ heavy are they 1250kg with the 202?
You've got more chance getting a 202 into the gemi.
That'd still go pretty hard but the legalities are still a concern. :w:
The point is I have a 3.8 V6 already. And if a 3.8 is a boat anchor, what does that make a 202, becuase shit floats. :D
what has legal got to do with it?
a dodgy conversion into a RA60/Merc/anything is going to be no more legal than into a Gemi.
Would you seriously drive it *on* the road anyway?
Do you reckon the auto VR 3.8V6 would return better economy than 10L/100km when in a bluebird combined city and HWY?

I know Castlemaine rod shop sell mounting kits for V6 into Gem. Dont know how much they are but the site is:
www.rodshop.com.au
You really need a 1100 kg base weight before you can do any serious conversion. THEN the sky is the limit ESPECIALLY if it has a full chassis
Does anyone actually have a link to the rules and regulations regarding engine improvement/conversion?

For a vehicle that is naturally aspirated as standard, and has a total weight of 1100kg or LESS, the formula is...
Vehicle weight in kg's X's 3
e.g TX sedan approx. 950kg's X 3 = 2850cc = 2.8litre max.
For a vehicle that is naturally aspirated as standard, and has a total weight of 1100kg or MORE, the formula is...
Vehicle weight in kg's X's 4.82
For a vehicle that is naturally aspirated as standard, and a forced induction type engine is fitted.
If the total weight is 1100kg or LESS, the formula is...
Vehicle weight in kg's X's 2.5
e.g TX sedan approx. 950kg's X 2.5 = 2375cc = 2.4litre max.
For a vehicle that is naturally aspirated as standard, and a forced induction type engine is fitted.
If the total weight is 1100kg or MORE, the formula is...
Vehicle weight in kg's X's 4
for geminis work on approx 950kg
